I have been living in my house for about 20 years and a roof replacement never really even crossed my mind until we found a leak. It was small at first but constant and so we started asking around to see if anyone we knew knew a good roofer. My boss was actually the one who recommended Benefit Roofing and I’m so glad he did. They have us a comprehensive estimate and though the news that we needed our roof replaced was tough to swallow we felt like this was a company we could trust to do it. My dad was a tradesman and the best in his trade. I knew what to look for in any company that I want for my house. Being a single woman I was leary and cautious who to pick. Benefit Roofing had all the checks I was looking for. Alan, Dina (who handles the calls and appointments, also very professional) and his men will not disappoint. Alan really listen and took me seriously unlike other "men" in construction! I had to have my roof replaced since there were 3 layers of shingles. He will tell you upfront exactly what you need. I didn't ask how long he had been in his field of work but, I knew just by the way he informed me that he has been doing this for a long time. He gave me more vents that I had on the previous roof and did a cricket for my chimney that hadn't been done with the old roof to prevent leaks. (apparently if the chimney is more than 4 feet wide it's better to have.) Two new t-tops which is more aesthetically nicer looking than the 2 pipes that were up there. He also included flashing that gives my roof a more custom look. He will also be putting up gutters after I get the house painted. I really enjoyed working with him for the 4 days or so. He always asked (and his communication skills are excellent) if I needed anything every day that his team was there. I had a couple of minor things I asked about and was done, no problem. From the start of the job to the end everything they did was done with a level of excellence. Everyday they would clean up and in my book that says a lot. After the last day of work he sent another guy to repaint a t-top and a pole that was in a different brown so that the browns would match I hadn't even noticed that! Finally, swept up the garage that was not done because I had locked it prior. He will not be the cheapest and was not the most expensive. He will give you a fare price but does knows all the ins and outs of roofing, AND will be the most professional and fun to work with! Alan is definitely the best in his trade! He takes pride in all aspects of the roofing experience. I can't say enough about his company! We live in a historic home in Pasadena that is over 100 years old. When we discovered internal water damage, we called out four different roofing companies to get estimates. We had patched the roof previously and knew it was time to get a new roof. Nervous about the cost and finished product, we greeted each company and walked them through the property to assess the job and provide estimates. The thing we were not at all expecting was the variety of cost and description of work that each estimate would contain. Benefit was not the cheapest, but we were completely blown away by the detailed estimate, transparancy with costs (especially adding a layer of plywood that the city of Pasadena requires), and time that he took to speak with us about the job. No other company came even close to that level of customer care. Before we signed a contract, Alan (the owner) returned a second time to take a few additional measurements in order to make sure that he would be able to work with our existing (asbestos) siding. He was so thorough and so very patient, spending an hour of his time discussing everything, answering our questions, and making sure that we felt comfortable moving forward. I had a 33 year old wood shingle roof with multiple leaks that could not endure another rainy season. I got about 4-5 estimates before I called Benefit Roofing whose owner, Alan, came out a few days later. He impressed me immediately as he saw details that none of the other roofers noticed. He pointed out that we had a layer of asphalt roof under the wood shakes, which I wasn't aware of. He also saw that there was a seam where the addition met the existing part of the house which wasn't level and would require some adjustments. These were important details that no one else saw and would affect the cost as well as the duration of the job. Alan was the only roofer who inspired my confidence based on his great reviews, attention to detail and responsiveness. His prices were fair and there were no surprises as he's very thorough. Our job was complicated as we have an unusual, pitched roof with lots of nooks and crannies. We also were replacing our rooftop air conditioner at the same time as the re-roof. The A/C required a custom built platform that took a few months to manufacture. This required a great amount of patience as there were numerous delays. Alan was in communication with the A/C company during this time to coordinate with them and kept me updated. Finally, after signing the contract in late July, our job commenced in early October. I couldn't be happier with the results, it looks amazing! I went with Certainteed Presidential TL Solaris which is the closest thing I could find to wood shake in my price range. I am the owner of a flat roofed duplex; it is an old building from the 1920s. Both units were suffering from water intrusion whenever it rained. It became clear that I had to have the roof inspected to see what repairs might need to be made. I contacted a few companies; two of them took one look at my property on Google and declined my potential business, owing to my duplex being very tall with a narrow driveway, and the roof only accessible from the outside. In addition, my gutters were also replaced, and Alan noticed there was an unaddressed area that could use a gutter, so he had his crew put one in, without changing his original quote. They weren't the cheapest quote but we really appreciated how they didn't have a high pressure sales tactic to try to get us to sign on the dotted line the same day. Overall the roof turned out great. We also had them do the gutters as well at the same time. He came to the site every day to inspect the work, update us, and to address any questions or issues. He was immediately available by phone and text. Costs were discussed in detail upfront and were consistent with other roofers we spoke to. We had our roof done in mid July. We have an almost flat roof. Our previous roof was in poor shape from likely chronic neglect. There were multiple bad leaks. We got several quotes from C39 licensed and well-rated roofing companies. We chose Alan for the above reasons. They were available to start work a little over a week later. We had a full reroof, new gutters, and replacement of a few rotted sections. The job took a week to complete from beginning to end. A few small issues came up that they fixed up nicely, without additional cost. No issues with permitting. Benefit Roofing just completed a re-roof for our home - and we couldn't be happier with the results. As many other home projects we did in the past - we really did our research before choosing a roofer to work with. We looked for different shingles options, colors, warranties, ventilation options and so on. Everything was a bit confusing. Gladly - we worked with Alan, the owner, which is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We truly enjoyed working with him. After some procrastinating and delays on our end, we had to put this situation to an end - we began our Yelp research and thankfully, found Benefit. We were really impressed by him and his demeanor and decided to move forward, after receiving a detailed proposal. The actual work (full re-deck, underlayment, shingles, flashings, vents, etc) took them about 5 days, and the new roof looks great. Their price was not the highest, nor the cheapest but we did believe in his company and the value that provided, rather than just going based on a low number. The work was performed in a timely manner, assuring completion before the onset of the rainy season. Alan monitored the work daily from start to finish, adding cosmetic improvements at no additional cost. Benefit is an amazing company! They were prompt, responsive, accommodating and polite. Most importantly they are honest! We had a small leak through a light fixture. With most roofing companies unless you know a lot about roofing yourself I'm not sure how you would really know when your roof needs replaced unless it's glaringly obvious. Ours is getting up there in years. But after our assessment Benefit told us we have some life left and don't need a replacement right now. In fact he gave the recommendation not to replace the roof but rather look at repairing a crack in siding and a window sill to fix the leak before resorting to an expensive roof replacement. Two other companies we got both recommended roof replacement despite admitting that the roof didn't look bad. I really appreciate the honesty of Benefit Roofing. Call them!

Scheduled our initial appointment about 10 days ago. Alan called before the scheduled time and informed that he will be late and asked very nicely if we can do a later time. Alan arrived exactly at the time as he prompted. He looked at the leaking spots. Immediately, he told us that his company doesn't do root-top deck but he is still very patient and listened to our other concerns. He climbed up to the roof and suggested what we should do next. Even though his company doesn't do any of the work we needed, we chatted about 30 min. He has been very friendly and professional and he provided lots of good recommendation. We will save his business card in case we need someone to do the roof. Even though we couldn't hire him this time but based on our first impression, highly recommended!

The house we moved into needed new shingles from the get-go and rotted plywood replaced in areas discovered after shingles removal. New roof looks nice and neat with Owens Corning shingles and low-profile vents which were painted to match the shingles. Existing exhaust pipes and other protrusions were painted to match as a nice finishing touch. I postponed this review until after strong winds and heavy rain. Shingles remained intact, no wet spots on ceiling or walls, and not a drop of water heard. Alan was prompt, professional, and addressed every concern I had throughout this renovation. I look forward to working with him and Benefit Roofing again for gutters.

If you want an honest and knowledgeable roofing company then look no further. I could not believe how honest Alan, the owner, was. He came out to look at my flat roof. He explained that my roof was very flat and would need to be hot mopped which he doesn't do. He was very nice to share how a torch down, which other companies were trying to sell me , wouldn't last and only leak in a few years. He also told me to have my ac unit placed on a metal platform, when the new roof is done, as the wood one I have is not up to code (something that no one else who inspected my roof told me. He was not only honest but was very knowledgeable. I am sorry that he doesn't do hot mopping as I would have hired him in a flash.
