I had a difficult time to find a roofing company to re-roof my two-story home with Spanish tile and Solar Panels. Every Roofing,, company I called in Santa Barbara said I needed to call a Solar Panel company to remove and then replace my solar panels, which did not sound appealing to me. Then I met Alex from August Roofing who patiently explained the process to me and assured me that they did both Roofing,, and Solar Panels! (left-hand knows, what right hand is doing!) Juan and the crew were on time every morning and left on time every night, leaving the outside clean. I’ve already recommended August Roofing to other friends, as I really appreciated their fair quote and courtesy.
August Roofing did an outstanding job on our roof. They showed up on time and stayed on the job until it was completed (7 days). We have a tile roof, and we were replacing the paper underneath and checking for any leaks or rot. At the end of each day, they cleaned up all around the house. The new paper was installed and the tiles replaced with more precision than before. Once everything was complete, they pressure washed the entire roof. The crew were very polite and treated our roof like it was their own. We highly recommend August Roofing!
I have a SunPower solar and battery system, and when I wanted to add a charging station, SunPower recommends using their contractors so as not to void your solar warranty. August Roofing was one of their premium contractors who I was already familiar with so I called them. Carlos and Thinus were awesome to work with, very professional and prompt. They did an excellent job of installing the wallbox and everything is working perfectly!
Lalo and his crew did an excellent job replacing my shingle roof. They were professional, kind, friendly, efficient, and always on time. They also kept the outside area very clean after finishing each day. The consultant, Alex, came to the house, took photos, went over thoroughly what was involved to replace roof and provided an estimate within the time we met. I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend them.

Second time using these guys and I'm very pleased with the results. After the major rains we had earlier this year, our 30+ year old roof decided it was time to give us a wakeup call ... and that it did. Jamie from August came out within a couple of days of my phone call and gave me a fair estimate to lay down new tar paper and reset all the tiles on our second story roof. The price was about mid-range of other quotes I received. All roofers were swamped because of the heavy rains, so they had to schedule me out about 8 weeks. There was another storm coming, so they came out and placed a temporary tarp to mitigate any further damage to our interior. About one week later, they were able to move my job up three weeks! The estimate on the job was approx 2.5 days. The workers showed up on time every single day. Of course, that meant I couldn't sleep in but knowing that the roof over our heads was going to be fixed was worth it. As with any roofing job, expect lot of loud hammering, debris on the ground and dust in the air. They parked their trailer right up against the house so they could throw the trash straight into the trailer from the roof. The replaced some (expected) dry rot and many broken tiles. I went up a couple of times and took a look at their work. Looked very professional. They foreman on the job had been doing this for 22 years. The entire job ended up taking four days but that was because we had a LOT of hills and valleys due to the three dormers up there. From the backyard, the roof looks great and you can hardly distinguish the new tiles mixed in with the original. After they were done, I noticed a few oil spills on our driveway. I took photos, sent them to Chris and he sent out a professional to clean them up the following morning! How's that for service? All is good and we're very happy!
In 2001 the upper roof on our 10-unit condo building was replaced, and within a few years it was leaking badly. It is a 30' X 40' flat roof, but poor engineering of the roof meant that it was covered by a 1-2 inch pond over half its area. We couldn't just replace the roof because the structural problem would remain, and we would just have to reroof again, and pay for more damage to the unit inside. Unfortunately, the existence of two large air conditioning units, plumbing, and a parapet wall prevented us from doing resloping. We contacted over 30(!) roofers and general contractors for estimates and none could give us an affordable solution for elevating the air conditioners, dealing with the plumbing, and resloping the deck. August Roofing was the only company we could find with the ability to put the whole project together. In the end, they acted as general contractors, organizing the entire project which included air conditioning, water plumbing, wood construction, interior drywall and painting, guttering, sheet metal work, welding and installation of new access ladders. We were thrilled with the project from beginning to end, starting with an exceedingly detailed and fair estimate from Jeff Wunderlich, to excellent project management from the owner Chris Dyck and supervisor Javier Carillo. They were available every day for meeting and discussion over what turned out to be a full two-week project. I would recommend August Roofing without hesitation, and if one needs anything else besides a simple roofing job, they are the only company around.
We had a great experience with ARI. First off, their pricing is very competitive. We had four quotes but immediately knew ARI was for us when we met their estimator James Coach. He was so knowledgeable that he stood out. ARI has all of their employees obtain Tile Roofing Institute certification so we had confidence we were in good hands. Our new roof is not only beautiful but was installed with the highest attention to detail. Everything looks perfect! From concrete roof tile, fascia, flashing/coping, custom gutters, ARI delivers the best quality. We also highly recommend the radiant barrier OSB sheathing instead of traditional plywood. House is quieter and cooler during high temperatures. Numerous people who live in our community have walked by and commented on how beautiful our roof is. Some have asked for their business cards. ARI stands by their work and won't seek payment until the job is done to your satisfaction. Trust me, this is close to unheard of in this day and age. We would use ARI again in a heart beat. Many thanks to James, Kelsey, and our super superintendent Daniel for taking such good care of us. Their crews are second to none so we wholeheartedly thank them as well! P.S. This was a complicated job. With solar already installed, I needed to replace the flat roof portion of my roof in a way that would not void the warranty on the solar and would also get me a new roof with a warranty. (The "stand-offs" on which solar gear is mounted involve roof penetrations, and penetrations normally void a roof warranty.) I included August Roofing among the companies from which I got bids because I'd seen their trucks on a number of jobs in my 220-home HOA. August Roofing coordinated with my solar company in what amounted to a five-step, two-party process of (1) remove solar, (2) tear off existing roof, (3) install solar stand-offs, (4) install new roof and waterproof the standoffs and (5) reinstall solar. I went with a three-ply roof because it seemed like the smart thing to do. We had a bit of a hiccup at the end, but August Roofing absolutely and unhesitatingly made it right, and did so right away. Once done, my house came through the massive rains of February and early March dry as a bone inside. August Roofing certainly isn't the least expensive company out there, but in the end I was very satisfied with the work and with the wonderfully -- and in this day and age, surprisingly -- ethical way in which they handled it.
What a great experience. We knew we needed to replace our roof. We weren't having problems with leaks but we've lived here for 27 years and it was just time. We dreaded it however, because roofs being installed in our neighborhood would take months to be completed. Not with August!! At the same time we replaced the roof, we replaced our heating/AC unit. We left the coordination of both to August and the other contractor (also excellent) and within four days ALL of the work was done. The guys arrived earlier than expected, clean personally, friendly, professional and worked until the job was done for the day. They cleaned up their mess before they left and didn't expect a dime until the work was done and we were happy. August is a representative of CertainTeed, our roof material. It appears that CertainTeed has some lofty service goals for their distributors and their survey of August arrived just as they finished the job. We rated them "superiorly satisfied." Call them. If you don't, and you use someone else, you'll be disappointed you didn't take my review seriously.
I must admit I am skeptical of most contractors/job groups because you never know if you are going to get someone who is trying to make an easy buck or if they are telling the truth. Well, from the start, August Roofing was upfront and honest. I had two leaks in my roof that needed to be patched and based on the leaks, much of the wood needed to be replaced. They sent out their estimator who did all of his assessment and then sent me a copy of what they were going to do: complete with pictures and everything spelled out. Once I agreed to the price, the guys then came out and finished the job in one day. And of course..the next day it rained and their repair held up perfectly. I had a question about one issue I noticed and they sent their guy out the next day to investigate the issue. The touched up the issue and I never felt like it was a burden or that they were not going to come back. They seem to stand by their work and guarantee it. It's nice to know there is a roofing company that is operating in this fashion in Simi Valley. Thanks Guys!
Just finished my experience with August Roofing whom I found here on Yelp! It was awesome! Well organized, professional, prompt. Pricing was great. I will use them again and recommend them to all. Some of the roofers I called from yelp didn't even call me back. One did and said he was unavailable, I appreciated the call back. But August called me back within 24 hrs. The woman in the office who scheduled the estimating appointment was very kind. They came prepared with roof top photos of my home. They did everything they said they would. So I'll know when the rain season comes (ha! This is SoCal, we don't have a rain season) if the leak was completely repaired. One thing if you have never had your roof repaired I would suggest you going for a drive or away from the home IT IS A LOT OF LOUD BANGING! It is the roof so, just make plans to leave. Other than that, they were a very efficient company to work with... Thanks Yelpers for your honest reviews they really help people for things like this.
August roofing replaced the roof on the front of our house last week. I could not be more pleased with the service. They were timely, fast, thorough and had a very fair price. The crew arrived on Monday, covered our air conditioner and worked all day. At the end of the day Javier, one of the superintendents inspected their work and made sure they left our driveway clean and usable. On Tuesday they spent the entire day installing roofing and vents. They made sure everything was done to our satisfaction. Andy another supervisor made sure all work was completed and that the site was left as clean as possible. The crew was effective, and did all the work completely, the supervisors signed off that the job was done, Chris the owner was very helpful with any questions we had before and during the installation. This is the second time we have used August Roofing and would recommend them to anyone needing roofing or solar work.
Our home insurance agent recommended August Roofing so we knew they had to be great and they were! August roofing was very efficient in fixing our roof leak. Daniel came out and did an amazingly thorough survey of our roof and gave a very detailed report. He gave his recommended solution and the estimate was very well priced. They were able to replace the underlayment and a couple rows of tiles on one whole side of the house in just two days! Everyone on the crew was very kind and organized. They worked very quickly and cleaned up the whole area. They also take great picture of the progress so I could see the before and after pictures. It has rained since the repair and there have been no issues =). We will be using august roofing for all of our roofing needs from now on!
This was an excellent experience from the first phone call to schedule the estimate to the final clean-up. The estimator showed up on time and on the day he said (this cannot be said of another company who estimated the job). The estimate came in my email very quickly and was very understandable and competitive. The job was scheduled for the very next week, the roofers showed up at the time they said they would and began work immediately upon arrival, they worked with only lunch and short breaks, the job was completed in 4 days. The weather was extremely warm that week, but they really but they really worked hard every day. I highly recommend August roofing to anyone who needs a roofing job. My job was a complete removal and replace with some roof structure repair.
The proof of a good company is one that is going to help you when you call back even though it's been over 10 years. The roof is holding up absolutely GREAT! We have utilized August Roofing twice and have found them to be fair, honest and on time! 1st time was a few years ago we my wife and I requested a roof inspection and quote. The inspection report showed the roof in good shape with only the roof ridge line singles needing replacement. The repair was fairly priced and promptly completed and we greatly appreciated August Roofing's honesty in the inspection and following quote. 2nd time Dec 20121 and was a small job sealing the roof on an home adjacent Sun/Arizona room that leaked badly. I had a great experience doing business with August Roofing. Jamie gave me the lowest quote initially for a new roof and followed up consistently. Odd that the other 2 quotes NEVER followed up at all. I asked Jamie to come back and add in the KNOWN lumber pricing to the quote so I wouldn't be surprised. His quote went up to a more reasonable price (in the middle) and I hired them. They were prompt, courteous and neat. Andy ran the job and spent time answering any questions I had. What a pleasure to do business with. They came recommended from a friend. They're busy and it took a couple weeks to get an estimate but they come prepared. Not crazy about their sales pitch and ipad showcase and the "specials" if you schedule now. But the work was fabulous. They were on time, worked constantly. Very precise. Cleaned up everyday. I was able to change the tile with no problem. One comment, have an up to date swatch flyer so no need to "change" the day before installation of gutters. Also know the regulations for City of LA. They installed new cement tile roofing and gutters to my forever home. Now I'll have the house painted
August Roofing at our request provided an estimate after thoroughly taking measurements on the roof. Estimate was presented very nicely and thoroughly, including what we needed to do to be ready for them and samples of their roofing products. All questions answered respectfully. Scheduling stayed to their time table, cleaned up after themselves, and finished a couple of hours before our downpour. No leaks! Project Mgr worked in conjunction with the other contractors we had hired for additional work on the place. August Roofing, also, did not require payment until the job was finished and passed inspection. That is almost unheard of.
I hired August roofing to replace the water-proofing under-layment on my roof. I was doing solar panel installation at the same time and there was a lot of coordination, which had to happen between the roofers and solar installers. August roofing handled all of the coordination. Most importantly, they advised that the solar company was planning to use the panel supports, which are not up to code and would therefore void roofing warranty. Long story short, they got the solar company to install proper supports, which are code-compliant. Overall I am very pleased with my experience with August Roofing.
Very professional and the crew cleans up the area very well each day. Prices seemed right on the mark for the area. And they responded well to special requests such as covering my pool with plastic. I did have some trouble commimicating with the crew but they were quick to have their supervisor call and address any questions or concerns I had. We had a sudden downpour of rain and they crew worked quickly to tarp the house. They lost the battle over the garage but the company was very quick to replace an item that got damaged. I was pleased to have them work on my home and would recommend them.
In April, 2021 I purchased a house in Thousand Oaks. In 2018 August Roofing had installed a ceramic tile roof for the prior owner with a ten year warranty. During Summer, 2021 due to high winds some ridge tiles came loose, fell onto some other tiles, and shattered them. I called August Roofing and invoked the warranty. Within a few days they were here and completely quickly repaired the roof, replacing the damaged and shattered ceramic tiles at no cost. If you looked at the roof now and did not know about the incident, you would have no idea that anything had every occurred.
As a homeowner I have never had such an amazing experience! I delayed re roofing my home due to apprehension of dealing with contractors and price. Thank God I went to yelp and found August Roofing! Professionals from beginning to end. Responsive and quick estimate. The contract was competed electronically. They delivered supplies, competed installation and CIty inspection. I am writing this about their work done about 13 months ago with strip shingles on the slope areas and 2 layer of silicone coats on the flat roof. We have not had any leaks since we moved in 2011 even during the same year we had quite heavy rain in Ventura. But last year we decided to replace the entire roof to prepare the bad weather all we had head about on the news. Everything went well until we found the water stain on the ceiling in our small office last weekend. We climbed up and found an 11 inch size air ballon shaped bubble on the silicone coated flat roof and we thought probably it caused that leak. A guy came out the next day. We really appreciate their quick response . After his inspection he said the bubble did nothing to do with that leak. And then he checked the strip shingles and found out it was not completely sealed and glued to the flat area. That was his first interpretation but later he mentioned it could be a preexisting problem with wall next to that piece not from their unfinished job on the shingles. A couple of days later Chris called me and informed the repair was finished. When I mentioned the paint work needs to be done, he said he can provide some companies with our cost , also he said it could be from a problem with the wall not from their workers job like the other guy even though it happened 1 year after their whole roof replacement work even though we had never a problem. Besides this one, there are a couple of more things I need to mention. First one, when they put the topped shingles not in the center obviously tilted to one side shows they hired unexperienced workers, not sure from labor shortages during the busiest season. After all they had to redo that. And the other one is 2 lifted shingle pieces with pretty good size room from metal close to the wall even though Other shingles with same conditions are well attached without any space unlike these two. But again the guy who came for water leak wouldn't seem to care. He said since there is a metal underneath them, they are not attached. It looks like they didn't flatten the metal before put the shingles on them. There were some shingles not overlapped each other, but the guy said since they meet. Does that mean still they do their roles as good as the ones overlapped overtime during rainy season? Lastly we'd like to ask If it leaks after complete whole new roof work without any leak history while living in that place, what would you think cause that? Who would you think the owner has to pay for the paint from a leak after the job? "choose a very professional, experienced, and responsible roofing company" Thanks for your time.
***CUSTOMER BEWARE*** I purchased a SunPower Solar system with a back-up battery through August Roofing in 2023. August Roofing sold me this 70k solar system promising that it was an extremely reliable as well as robust system that would provide emergency power during prolonged power outages. During the recent wildfire emergency in Los Angeles, the power went out for the first time at my residence since installing the system and it completely failed. The back up emergency battery did not operate as advertised and is now currently completely defective, after only one year. The battery complete drained only after six hours of the outage, when it was designed to last over 24 hours. Since the battery completely drained itself, it can no longer be recharged. Additionally, the solar panels no longer produce energy for the system. Consequently, this 70k system is permanently defective and no longer under warranty because of Sun Power's recent bankruptcy as well as improper wiring completed by August roofing that caused my battery to drain prematurely. After recently calling August Roofing requesting for the system to be repaired, they advised me that they will no longer honor the warranty they had sold me upon purchasing the system and would no longer service this system moving forward. Ultimately, August Roofing sold me and installed this entire solar system at my residence, but due to Sun Power's bankruptcy, has chosen to no longer honor the promises and commitments they made to me and countless customers when initially purchasing this system. August Roofing installed defective Sun Power's solar equipment at my residence and now will no longer service it. I am now stuck with a 70k solar system that is completely inoperable. *Do not use August Roofing for any solar related products as they will not stand behind their customers if there are any issues with the products they install or warranties that come with these products.*
The call center gentleman, Armand, is where this fantastic experience ended. We have had a truly disappointing experience with this company, who we were unknowingly referred to by another company who requested I remove my review. I am NOT a complainer, you can see by my previous reviews that I love working with local companies and always give credit where credit is due. Armand reached to ask about their service, and here is my response: Honestly speaking with you on the phone was where the excellent experience ended. Unfortunately, we don't need a huge gutter project and it was a repair (a small gutter needed replacement). My husband is a disabled Veteran. I found the manager who came out to be rude and I felt like my questions weren't being answered and felt as if he felt coming out was a waste of time. And that's fine. The problem was that we asked how much he anticipated the costs to be and were completely blown off at that time and the manager said "I don't know, you'll get an estimate next Monday". The estimate came Tuesday, which is fine, but my husband did not like who came out and when the estimate came Tuesday with a $990 minimum, we were SHOCKED. Had this been expressed at any point during our consultation, we would have said no thank you and moved on. If there was a minimum, I would expect that your service manager would have known that and that we would have been advised of such at that time. I'm appalled that it took as long as it did to get a simple estimate. I am a local mortgage lender who specializes in fix & flip transactions and an elite Yelper, and have never been treated as poorly as I was during the interaction with your manager. Please do better with expectations for your customers.
I would never use this company again. We had our roof resurfaced and during a wind storm part of the sheeting flipped back. They refused to guarantee their work, stating the weather was an "act of God." Since another rain storm was on the way, we had to pony up a lot more money to have them come and fix a roof that was supposed to last years, not months. In addition, the roof still leaks where they repaired it and has now sprung leaks in other places as well. UPDATE: I never called August roofing back, because I did not want to be charged even more additional money. They did NOT GUARANTEE their work the first time. We relied on their "expert" appraisal of the roof condition before the work was done and went with their recommendation of what was needed. If they will not guarantee their own sales pitch, one should go elsewhere. Why would I want people who failed to repair my roof twice back for a third time? I have found an excellent roofer who told me they failed to correctly install flashing around many of the vents on the roof which caused additional leaks. I highly recommend K & H Roofing -- an honest, efficient and expert service.
January 7th I called in a panic with 2 bad leaks in my roof, ( the roof is about 3 years old but I just bought the house 2 years ago). I set up the earliest appointment they had available, which was in 2 weeks, on or about January 22nd. Someone showed up, never came to the door to let me know they were there, but did get on the roof to check things out. January 29th I called the office to find out when I would receive the quote. I was told quotes take 7-10 days. So we are at 7 days at that point, so I can give it a couple more. Well the 3 other roofers I contacted had already emailed me quotes and I chose the one that explained what he would do and what it would cost, and no he was not the cheapest, just liked the way he handled things. So as of February 2nd the roof was fixed, with a guarantee. So today February 23rd I got a email with the quote and contract from August Roofing, that I honestly thought they had forgotten about. The quote was 5 times what the cheapest quote was and 4 times what I paid! Shop around people, this is not a company you want to deal with!!
I am surprised that there are so few others who have had bad experiences with August. Since they replaced our roof 3 years ago we have not had a single winter without water intrusion. We have incurred so much costs from having to replace drywall and repaint over and over again. They assure us they have fixed the problem but it is never fixed. There is always something new that for some reason they didn't do when they originally replaced the roof. So of course the work is out of warranty. When I hired them I told them all I wanted was for my roof to stop leaking and they assured me they were up to the job. Clearly, they were not. We now have more water damage. And then you call and the people who you dealt with all seem to have disappeared and so they have no explanation for why things are not repaired correctly. They just keep saying, this time it will be fixed. Forget it. No more. And now I am warning others with my experience since I have had such a disaster of an experience.
I have a Warmington home and have had roofing problems from the beginning. Warmington has come back several times to repair my 1994 tile roof. The last time it was repaired by August Roofing in 2005 in my living room and they also attempted to fix my patio roof for an additional charge of in 2005. I had to have them come back to fix the patio roof again since it was still leaking, however, it still leaks, but it is past their 2 year warranty period. Also where they supposedly fixed my living room leak, it still leaks, so now Warmington and of course August Roofing will not fix my roof, even though it is the same problem. I have found out from the roofer who is now going to properly fix my roof, that it was only patched and not correctly fixed. Roofing leaks should not be happening on a less than 20 year old roof and also if they have been properly fixed.
Terrible follow-up and business practice for old customers! My old roof company sold their business to these people and they didn't honor anything from the acquisition of the sell. I had my flat roof done in 2018 and I needed to get an inspection for my insurance. I called them(2024) and the lady said "sorry" we don't honor anything from the past and "we just don't have you on file". Didn't care or seem to care for or ask any questions if they could help me or maybe I could just possible be a " new customer" but she seemed to not need new business so I called another company. BTW the new company was great, so Pm if you want their name and number.
Avoid August Roofing. One of the worst roofing companies I've had the misfortune to deal with. Customer service is a joke....they don't return calls, don't show up when they're supposed to. My four year old roof has leaks. I advised them of this over three months ago. Since then they've done nothing except give me the run around! I do not understand the good reviews they've gotten; it makes me question their validity. Attached is a photo showing fungal growth and dry rot caused by one of the leaks. Do yourself a favor and avoid these people. By the way, i live in Simi Valley; it don't know why my profile says San Francisco.
I just started yelping. I contacted August Roofing last winter to have some repairs done on my home. I got a salesman that was nice enough but had soft hands so it was clear he wasn't a roofer. We agreed on a price to repair my roof and scheduled a date. I stayed home from work that day and no one showed up. I was told by phone that they would be here the following day. When the "roofers" showed up none of them spoke a word of English and had no idea of what they were supposed to be doing. Unless you are into babysitting I wouldn't hire these people to work on my mailbox.
WARNING! The workers for this roofing company destroyed my grill. The lid was caved in and the leg was snapped off. Either they dropped something on it or hit it with their truck. Either way, I contacted the company. I was told they would reimburse me. Some incompetent manager named PETE said he would talk to their insurance and get back to me. 6 months later, he won't return calls or emails. I talked to the supervisor of the job and he ADMITTED they caused the damage but said that I couldn't prove it. Criminal. Avoid this company at all costs!
I got really poor results from the repairs done from August Roofing. I spent over $5500. doing the repairs they said were needed to correct any leaks we were having (in 2017) and an additional $1300 to do a whole roof "tune up" they called it. For $7K you would think their "repairs" would have been helpful, if not great. The leaks came back and when I called to inform them, I just got "attitude". We suffered through any 2018 rains and now we have to find a company that can actually get it right. Ughhh :{
Happened 20 years ago but this illustrates the character of the owner. I knew the unfortunate owner of the home that was damaged, and the stress that this caused her. well here is another company that install solar panels.when i reach out to them they dont give reasons why they cant help us go green .would i recommend them base on my experience with this company.i let other homeowners decide for themself if? there are alot of home owners like to go green
Called and left message on Monday 2/6, received return call on Tuesday afternoon 2/7, then was told they couldn't even provide an estimate until March 28th.
Corners of fascia cut wrong and damaged. Flashing paint not solid and weather head left old color. Valley flashing intersection may cause future water flow issues. Damaged fence post. 2”flashing installed on 11/2” vent pipe extra mastic to cover it up. Fascia seam over doorways. Over priced for a two man team taking a week to complete. No work on the weekend. Accounting is done via email not paper mail making it difficult to print important documents. I’m only writing this feed back because I have been repeatedly text/emailed to the point of harassment. I don’t do these things but I’m compelled to stop the on going requests. The workers were nice and professional, one skilled the other a helper. I had to suggest they change the blade on their saw as it was painfully obvious from the sound it was a dull blade. I’ve asked accounting for a paper statement of my account paid in full twice now. I will email another time Monday. For the money spent anyone would expect more polished finish.
John said that on my first bid a year ago he forgot to check the thickness of the roof decking and that it would probably have to be replaced because it was too thin and not compliant with code. This would add on $4K to the $12K bid he had previously made. He said the inspector would make the determination after I was under contract with them and the shingles had been removed. I said I wanted the City of Oxnard to inspect the house before the contract was signed, so I wasn't being held over a barrel. So on 8-29-17 Jose Cruz the Oxnard City Building Inspection Supervisor said that he was surprised that John (August Roofing) would mention deck thickness because our house would be grandfathered in since it had passed inspection in the past and it's roof decking would automatically pass inspection. Also my area of Oxnard was built at a time when all the roofs were done at 1/2" thick which meets current code. I don't know why John chose to misrepresent the truth when I'm almost sure he knew what the truth was that no homes in Oxnard and possibly in the whole state are denied passage of inspection based on pre-existing conditions which have been grandfathered in since they have already passed inspection once. This seems very unprofessional and dishonest which probably relates more to a fleecing than reroofing.
In early February 2021, I called August Roofing to get an estimate for a reroof on my house. I got an appointment set for March 2 2021. On that day a sales rep named John came to the house for the appointment, John was very nice and explained what he was going to do. I told John that I already had three estimates but I hadn't decided who was going to get the job at this time. John went on the roof, took photos and then explained what he had found. After showing me the photos and explaining everything he said here is your price. The bid was almost 24000 dollars. I told John that all three of the other bids were around 14000 dollars. He then told me that that was the one year price, but if i was going to do it in the next two months he could do it for the low 18000 dollars. Moments later he reduced the price again to the mid 17000's. I wasn't sure if I was getting an estimate for a reroof or was I buying a new car. So for those of you looking for reroof estimates just be aware.
This company came highly recommended, but there was a Two week wait for a salesman to come and give an estimate - high price, but they are probably good because they are booked solid for two months. I'd hate to see how long we'd have to wait if we ever had a problem with a roof they installed.
Great initial experience, and excellent workmanship, but after that they are very difficult to contact or get information from. I had a nee roof and solar installed and honestly do not have any complaints about the work that they did, but Sun Power has gone bankrupt and I get zero feedback from them. When I contacted them they actually seemed annoyed, told me to go read the blog and they dont have anything else to share. The Sun Power app has a big bold banner on it that says they dont provide and support or service. I have since asked what that means for thier customers and they simply brushed off the question. When you spend high 5 figures with a company I would expect far better and more courteous after purchase communication and support
Yes but they could not fulfill the job I was planning. As it turns out I needed just an electrician. I was able to secure an estimate from Positively Electric.

I had a great experience with August roofing for a full roof replacement. From the onsite inspection, bid, follow up, scheduling the project, to doing the work and completion…August Roofing did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it (even ahead of schedule). Their bid was very competitive and Not the highest I received. The customer service is what won me over and made me choose them. Once I signed the contract for work, I was interested to see if the customer service dropped off since they had won the job…it did NOT. It probably even got better. The job started on time, site was cleaned up every day, and finished ahead of schedule. I would recommend August Roofing to anyone out there and very satisfied with the whole process.
