We needed a new roof and after researching the GAF timberline HD Z reflector series shingle roofing system is what we wanted to install that meets the title 24 codes. And Chandler’s is a GAF master elite contractor !!! There is less than 2% of the contractors in the nation that meet GAF’s standards so we wanted someone that knew what they were doing and they certainly did !!! They also advised us on adding the O’Hagin low profile intake vents to have a balanced intake and exhaust system in the attic. And they used 95 LF of the Cobra Ridge exhaust vent to balance the system. They also used a custom paint to paint all the new pipe and vent caps that matched the shingles perfectly. They even painted the Edison electrical conduit that really gave it an added finishing touch to our roof !!! I wish I could attach pictures to this. They are very highly recommended !!! Thank you, Chandler’s Roofing for a good job. Well done. !!! John C. (from Torrance)
I had Chandler's Roofing strip off my old rock roof and install a new GAF Torch down roof in December of 2024. Everyone on the crew and in the office did a wonderful job and were super helpful. Mike who supervised the job and Genesis in the office were particularly helpful with any questions I had both by phone and by text. At the end of the job, Mike gave me pictures of the completed roof so that I could both have an view from the air for the whole roof, plus close up pictures so that I could see the material and the vents. They also during the process replaced my dryer vent from the dryer up through the roof to bring it up to code. A big thank you to Mike G. and Genesis for their professionalism and attention to detail during the process.
Brian (the owner) with Chandler's Roofing came out several months ago to give us a price on our house. We couldn't decide and put it aside for a while. We decided to use them because they offer a GAF warranty that is impressive and they have been in business over 31 years. That meant a lot to us. We needed help with deciding on colors. We received samples and a few local addresses to go look at. Brian was a pro and handled my too many questions with patience. The office staff is pleasant to work with and made what I thought would be a painful process not painful at all. The crew and clean up daily was also appreciated. Job well done!!! My neighbors are getting an estimate now since they heard good ratings from us.
I highly recommend this roofing company! From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and professional. The crew arrived promptly, worked efficiently, and completed the job with impressive workmanship. They were careful to minimize disruption and left the area clean and tidy. The communication was excellent; they were always responsive to my questions and concerns, and the project was completed on time and within budget. I am extremely satisfied with the results and wouldn't hesitate to use them again for future roofing needs.
Chandler's Roofing installed the gutter system for my home and did a great job. The installation crew arrived on time and completed the job on time. The finished gutter system looked great as outlined in the proposal and you could not tell that anyone had been there working with the area cleaned with no debris. Kathy in the office was great to work with and answered all of my questions. The price was great and Chandler's Roofing will be by go to Roofing company for all roofing in the future.
Chandler Roofing replaced my roof with a wonderful GAF Solar Roof and we are so happy 😁 Our Solar Roof is producing and it’s waterproof and well tested after the last rainstorm!! The Owner of Chandler Roofing, Brian Hicks is an expert in roofing and solar and his Crew of workers was the Best, very clean and neat. Chandlers Roofing completed our job in record time and it beautiful, so we would definitely recommend them.
I had the pleasure of meeting Brian and Corey today. I had a few question regarding replacing my roof and these guys had all the answers. Extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a roof to give them a call for an estimate.
They did a good job at fair prices. They did not "oversell." I trust them and recommend them to others. I had three leaks on a 3300 square foot commercial roof a year ago. So, the following summer I got opinions/estimates from five pros. Three only wanted to do whole roof replacement for around $25K. The other two pros said only partial repairs were necessary, with similar price quotes of less than $2K... but with no guarantee on partial/spot repairs. Being in the auto repair business for thirty years, I clearly understood that any partial repairs could be "hit and miss" with results only known after it was tested... in this case tested with rain. Ricardo of Chandlers seemed very professional, so I signed contract for the seemingly small and simple job. But I had to wait four months for them to schedule the work. The one-day job for three guys was done just a week before start of winter rain. But as soon as rain fell, one of the spots repaired still leaked, plus another new spot. They returned a month later, redid the previous spot, and I willingly paid them a completely appropriate amount to repair the new spot. Unfortunately, that one also leaked a week later. I quickly offered (before they even asked) to pay a bit more for them to come back for the third time to re-do that final leak, pleading with them to do it right away. They did it a few days later... before the next rain fell. All OK now. I must admit I was very nervous over the course of six months, fearing that that it would rain and leak before work was done. And I kept asking if they could get this seemingly small job done right away, but had I had to wait for them to fit it into their busy schedule. I agonized each time as I waited for rain to "test the work." Overall, I appreciate Ricardo and his crew for offering to do a partial repair rather that trying to "oversell" me into a complete re-roof. I'm pleased with the price paid and work accomplished. In future I will call them again, whether I need a partial repair or a whole roof on this, or one of my other commercial buildings. I trust them. And, that may be the best thing to look for when hiring a roof repair company.
If you are looking for an excellent, efficient, dependable, high quality professional roofing company, then CHANDLERS ROOFING is for you! I had a concrete tile roof with hundreds of cracked and broken tiles that leaked every year and with El Nino rainstorms, I could not put off a new roof any longer. After doing my research (CSLB, BBB, Yelp etc.) and getting bids from local roofing companies, I chose CHANDLERS ROOFING. Owner Brian Hicks gave me an honest assessment of what my roof needed, offering options for a total reroof because the cement tiles I had are no longer manufactured. He even had samples of the various GAF shingles sent to me so I could see the products I was choosing from CHANDLERS ROOFING is a GAF certified professional company, so the high quality of materials is guaranteed and warranted as is the installation, Brian is very accessible via cell phone, and he stayed in contact throughout the demo and install. There were no surprises when an issue was found...I got a call or a visit explaining the issue and proposed solution including drone photos so I could see the issues for myself. My new roof, replacement of dry, rotted wood and most of the eaves took about 7 days, The crew was efficient, polite and respectful of my property. At the end of each day, they cleaned up, removed all debris and stored materials & equipment out of sight, I love the look of my new roof and gutters, which was installed just days before the tropical storm dropped 3" of rain in 24 hours, and I did not have one leak plus the gutters were very effective in keeping my planters from becoming lakes. I highly recommend CHANDLERS ROOFING to anyone who values quality workmanship from a local family-owned business.
I just can't say enough good things about this roofing company! Chandler's Roofing did an amazing job on our new flat roof. After interviewing many different roofing companies, Chandler's Roofing was the one who stood out among the rest. Brian, Corey, and Mike met with me, listened to my concerns, and came up with a detailed plan and work schedule to accommodate my needs and help design a new "Smart" roof to redirect standing water, which was causing issues and leaks on my old, flat roof. To make matters more complicated, there are 26 solar panels living on our flat roof. Chandler's Roofing was able to coordinate construction related details and work around "The Big Solar Company" and their insane solar panel "Removal and Reinstallation" process, even after a last minute cancellation. If you have ever tried to work with "The Big Solar Company" and only through their App, you know how frustrating they can be. Not a problem for Chandler's Roofing! Corey was my project manager during the installation process and he did a really fantastic job. He made me feel like a priority, always communicated with me in advance, was able to facilitate some tile projects in addition to the flat roof, and was just super friendly and accommodating, which is hard to find these days. The crew at Chandler's Roofing were very professional, hard working, cleaned up after themselves, and did a really extraordinary job. The staff in the office were super friendly and communicative, always clear with invoicing and scheduling. Chandler's Roofing is the right company for your next roofing project. I highly recommend them for all your roofing needs.
Chandler's Roofing did excellent work re-roofing a 2,000 sq ft roof for a 5-unit condo building with architectural challenges. The work involved a 2-roof system with narrow roof ledges at the top and sides of a 3-story building. The main roof was designed in a barrel shape and presented significant safety issues. Ricardo was our Project Mgr who always was available to answer our questions throughout the entire project experience - from our initial meeting to final walk-thru. He took the time to explain our roof condition and provided several alternatives to replacing our roof, even providing roofing material samples to aid in our decision. The roof workers were courteous, arrived promptly in the AM, worked diligently and made sure our property was meticulously maintained before leaving every day. The proposed schedule and estimated cost was met as originally planned - NO hidden costs and NO timing delays. Although we added a few unexpected change orders, basically, what we signed in the contract was exactly what we received. The office staff at Chandler's was a pleasure to work with - professional, accommodating with requests (such as providing copy of insurance certificates) and efficient with pulling permits and arranging inspections. We had a positive experience with Chandler's Roofing and would highly recommend them to anyone for roofing projects. Their outstanding customer service, professionalism, expertise in the roofing industry and quality workmanship make them the best choice for anyone in need of roof work.
What a pleasure to have my expectations met and EXCEEDED by a contractor Ive never met nor worked with before. I'm so happy with the following; Although I already knew the general extent of the repairs needed, the bid included very detailed photos of my roof, verifying what I knew was needed, I wasn't hit with any crazy surprises, but best surprise was the bid was very fair and accurate, recommendations that were made were right on point including needing to fabricate and replace the missing spark arrester covers to both chimney stacks. (They turned out perfect and look beautiful.) Brian Hicks the owner of the company showed up exactly on time for all appointments, the workers were very friendly, professional and polite. The job site was left perfectly clean, and upon the completion of the work I was provided with aerial photos showing the finished product in all the areas I needed repaired. With that said, this great service made me feel good about immediately scheduling more roof repairs on another property. The repairs were even more extensive on my 1936 Spanish clay tile roof in all the sneaky peak and valley angles. My tenants were pleasantly surprised as well with the roofing crew's professionalism and again perfect clean up. I'm exceedingly happy with Chandler's Roofing, I'm pleased to say that I haven't been this confident and satisfied with a contractor in a very long time.
After living through many rainy seasons and enduring the nightmares of patching my roof with the typical Black Roof Mastic I decided to have my outdated 90 lb. cap sheet torn off and replaced with PVC. I made appointments with 4 different PVC roofing companies to visit my job site, answer my questions, and give me estimates. Basically it was an interview of who could answer my many questions of what they would do where. It was clear that Brian Hicks, of Chandler Roofing in San Pedro and the Los Angeles area was the company for me. He explained what needed to be done in each scenario whereas I was not satisfied at all with the answers the other 3 companies gave me. All of the employees of Chandler Roofing were extremely competent, professional, and polite. I could not have been more satisfied with their work. Plus the best part is that the warranty on my roof is for 30 yrs for the material and LABOR. Also having this cool roof qualifies me for a federal tax credit.. The attached picture is the clay roofing tile, which Brian was able to source out, that matches the roof tile on a Los Angeles Historical Building. I was extremely happy about that and the installation of it. The neighbors were even happy. :) When I clean up my roof I will take and post pictures of the flat surface. Greg P.
Twenty years ago, my wife and I built our current South Bay home, which included a roof installed by Chandler Roofing. Based on that experience and given the aged condition of the roof, we engaged Chandler again in 2024 to replace the roof. Mid-course, in that replacement we and Chandler identified water leakage through a deck that was separate from, but which immediately adjacent to the roof. As this was not work Chandler does, we identified a general contractor (DG Construction Services) after an earlier contractor ghosted us, and we got DG to repair the deck leakage. DG Construction did a nice job on the repair, essentially bringing the damaged deck back to its former glory, and Chandler stood ready and then completed the roof replacement once the deck repair was completed. I recommend both DG Construction and Chandler Roofing due to the quality of their work. And as to Chandler, I was most grateful after being ghosted by an initial general contractor that Chandler did not drift away from their roofing commitment, but stood by for weeks, if not months, while we struggled to engage DG and get the deck damage repaired. I would hire both DG Construction Services of Inglewood and Chandler again.
Absolute perfection from Chandler's Roofing. We couldn't be happier with the entire process and with our beautiful new roof! Excellent workmanship in every detail at a very fair price. Brian and the crew kept us informed of everything we needed to know from beginning to end. In addition, Brian always answered my calls and texts and answered any questions that came up right away. The crew cleaned up neatly every day, and each of them were very skilled, thorough, professional, kind, polite and did such a great job. They made the whole project very easy. (We had the roof on our house done, along with the roof on our backyard shed, and two skylights installed in our home.) Highly recommend this company. I wouldn't go with anyone else. My parents had their roof done by Chandler's as well several years ago. They love their roof and haven't had any problems with it, so we contacted them to do our roof as well. Chandler's is truly the best. Thanks so much!
I've had many properties. And I have done every level of shingle composition roofing. I've hired guys at Home Depot. Had the generator stolen while on the roof. Done my share of DIY. I was thrilled - yes "Thrilled" with the quality of the work, the professionalism of everyone on the job site and in the office. AND - an interest free loan arrangement that made is very easy to pay off before interest charges would set in. I really do have the best looking room on the block. I'm on Walsh Ave. near Centinela. I do not have to give address. You will easily recognize the roof, the vents, and everythibg about the roof is clearly outstanding. I failed to mention above: the roof had an area that never drained the rain correctly. They fixed it. You cannot tell that it is a redo in the area they fixed. I think my roof is a couple years old now. No problems at all! Thank you Chandler Roofing for being a great company!
I would definitely recommend Chandeliers for your roofing needs. I have several properties and they offered to inspect the condition of all roofs. They took photos and used a drone for aerial shots so I could see where things were wrong with my roofs. They recommended tuneups on all roofs that were leaking instead of trying to sell me a new roof. The employees showed up on time and were very thorough on the work performed. They also showed me pictures of the work performed . My tenants were very happy with the professionalism while working on their property and how they cleaned up to where you never knew that they were there. I've had other companies work for me in the past where the employees play loud music and talk very loud and leave a mess behind when they leave. We recently had some rain and not one leak on any property. Thank you for your honesty and professionalism!!! I highly recommend.
We had a roofing problem so I called Chandlers as they have served our family since 1952. We replaced our roof in October 2019, but wewaited to review to see how the roof held up. Weathered two major rain storms and last week - 40mph gale winds perfectly! We had purchased an older home that had deferred roof maintenance that had deteriorated to where the sheeting underneath had rotted in place. Brian came out quickly, very knowledgeably surveyed the roof and laid out three options for repair based on our budget. The roofing crew was very professional, showed up when they said they would, installed the roof in a journeyman manner, and cleaned up spotlessly and were a joy to have here. Our home is located in Palos Verdes Shores and we have since watched Chandlers replace roof on three neighbors homes - all with the same attention to details. Susan and Hershell Mann San Pedro
Simply the best roofers! I have to admit finding an honest roofer is not easy. I took several bids for other roofers and my experience was: 1. They either didn't bother to show up but sent me an email saying that they had all they needed from google earth pictures. 2. Did a 5 minute walk through of the roof and decided a verbal estimate was sufficient. Like I am going to pay thousands dollars off of a very unprofessional estimate. 3. Or tried to sell me something that I was really not walking and was not willing to take the time to help me understand their logic. I was lucky to find Chandler's roofing. Brady was very thorough and took the time to explain to me the issues I was facing, what work I needed, and most importantly what work was a waste of time to spend money on. I would rehire them any day.
We had both our roofing and solar done... as these are two different entities I am so happy to say this was done under "one roof"! Off the bat service was amazing.... once I asked for a quote I was visited by owner and given a more than amazing summary on the type of work we were looking for. Once the meeting started I knew that we wouldn't be going with any other company. Not only was the quote pretty spot on but once the work started if anything extra was needed (new electoral panel or extra wood to be replaced) we knew right away and signed off on the exact cost added to the bill. The work was down so quickly and the workers were so nice, respectful and so sweet to our small kids who often wanted to do nothing but observe! I couldn't recommend this company more!! Thanks Chandler Roofing!!
We had a long stretch of very old steel gutter that was leaking. Chandler's Roofing did a great job of "surgically" removing the old gutter, without having to involve the roof--with old houses, which our is, steel gutters are often installed *under* the roofline. Chandler's professionals did a great job of avoiding that expense & hassle. Replaced the old gutter with a seamless new one, that perfectly matches our existing gutters & our new paint job! Matt, the project foreman, was a pleasure to deal with--great communications--and the installers were punctual, fast, courteous & very neat! Like they were never here! 5 enthusiastic stars! Chandler's is fair & they are pros! (Picture attached, not terribly exciting...but gutters generally aren't. This one seamlessly integrates with our 1926 home.)
I can't sing the praises of Chandler's Roofing enough. I got several bids and decided to go with Chandler's for two main reasons: their prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of their service; and their representative, Brady, left us feeling with certainty that not only was he profoundly competent at his trade, but he was also honest through and through. We were always at ease with Brady at the helm, because we knew that the job would be done as if he lived there himself. The crew that did the demo and installation of my tile roof was respectful, extremely clean, efficient, and fast. You cannot go wrong with this company, I would use them again in a heartbeat.
We'd like to say thank you to Chandler's Roofing for the outstanding job they did on our roof several years ago. We've loved our roof for years and have received so many compliments on it. The crew that worked on it took such care with every detail and it definitely shows. We couldn't be happier with how well it turned out, and it's made such a difference to our home. The quality is top of the line and the company was so nice to work with - hardworking, always left things clean, beautiful workmanship, and great communication. From beginning to end, our experience was beyond excellent, and we're so thankful we ended up with Chandler's. Highest recommendation.
We had our gutters done by Chandler's and they did amazing! Mike came out and gave us a quote and was very professional. We have been putting it off for a while because anything to do with your roof is pricey (especially if you want to use a reputable roofer). Chandler's has a very knowledgeable team and although they seem to be the more expensive option sometimes, it's made apparent why. Their warranties are great and the service is amazing! We have a very unique trim color to our house and they were able to match it pretty spot on! We are possibly thinking of doing a reroof as well & will update our review if done so! I will try posting a picture when I can!
Called Brian for a new roof on one of our buildings. They came out a gave me a quote with a few options to choose from. We chose a 20yr warranty option of a white poly roof. Three weeks late. They came out in force and removed and replaced the entire roof in 6 days. Including new facia board. The entire crew was polite and professional. They kept the site clean and safe for our residents. They were a pleasure to work with. This was my first time working with them but they have done two other roofs for our association in the past, and we have been very happy with both of them. Great company and awesome finished product.
I can't say enough great things about Chandler's Roofing! From the start Brady was wonderful - extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and very accommodating (I was 39 weeks pregnant and our entire roof needed to be replaced). His team not only came down from LA each day (we're in Orange County), but also did excellent work, were quick / efficient, and extremely courteous (we had a new baby at home while they were installing) - we are thrilled with the outcome! I would highly recommend them for any roofing job - particularly flat roofs like ours. Thanks Brady & team!
We used Chandler's Roofing for our mid-century home in the desert. After received 4 quotes we decided to go with Chandler's as they proposed a solution that best meet our long term needs and I felt we'd get a quality product and service. They did not disappoint. Brian was very responsive always communicating every step of the way. After a few rain delays, they started on time. Brian had warned us we could get some dust inside due to the beam ceiling we have. This allowed us to prepare the inside. The crew did a great job. I would highly recommend Chandler's Roofing.
Chandler's Roofing did another great job for us, finding and fixing a persistent roof leak. Abel and his team were here for one full day, and did an amazing amount of hard work in that time removing roof tiles, finding the leak area, replacing the bad roof section and flashing, and returning the red tile roof to its original look. Chandler's previous work for us includes replacing old-style skylights with new modern ones, and general roof repair and maintenance. They are fair, honest and dependable, and do excellent professional work.
I wanted to write a review for Chandler's Roofing after the outstanding job they did in addressing a garage leak. Brian Hicks was very thorough and spent a good deal of time in determining the source of leak. Brian arranged for his team to retrofit aging S tiles and replaced aging and poorly installed substrate, ensuring a proper job. After our heavy rain in December '21, he contacted me to assure there was no problem. The best recommendation I can give is that I will absolutely hire Chandler's to replace my flat roof when it is due!

Our new roof (installed Oct. 2017) leaked around the fireplace chimney in its second winter, Chandlers/IB roof contract has a 25 year warrantee. I called and Erica sent Brady to assess the leaks. Brady inspected the roof finding cracks in the caulk between the vinyl roofing and chimney base, also the top of the chimney itself. He attributed the leaks to both the cracks in the caulk and the top of the chimney. Neither leak source were covered as the cracked caulk was "lack if maintenance" and Chandlers did not address the top of the chimney when they re-roofed our building. He climbed down and said he'd send an estimate for a chimney cover, installation of same, and recaulk between roofing material and chimney. $500+ estimate inspired me to climb up and have a look? Turns out the caulk seem was smoothed with a finger forming a trough for water to gather in on the side of the chimney. AND The top of the chimney is concrete poured between the brick exterior and central exhaust tube? From no perspective should caulk need annual maintenance and unlikely that water can leak through 8 feet of poured concrete? Recaulked the cracked seem eliminating the trough and left the top of the chimney as is. Unfortunate that Chandlers Roofing chooses not to stand behind their work and blame the customer for what is clearly an installer issue. PS 2 weeks later; It rained hard enough yesterday illustrating Brady's diagnosis woefully incorrect. Homeowner repaired the caulk there are NO LEAKS with the top of the chimney uncovered.
We had our deck on the third floor done by this company. They had to come back soon after because the job was not done right. Last year we started having problems with flooding and water filtering through the roof. I called and talk to the same Project Manager we dealt with Dan Marchand. He stringed me alone blaming the product they use that was not any good and that the company that manufactured what they used GacoFlex had been sold and there was nothing they could do. One is not my problem that the product they used was not good, I didn’t choose it, they told us “ it was the best” and they charged us as it was the best. Two that company is still around and that product is still under guarantee! But they just didn’t want to bother to do anything. We had to pay another company to redo the deck properly. Stay away from this company that does not stand behind the products they use and or the work they do!
The initial bid was for over $3,700 for a total repair of the garage roof. We questioned that amount asking how could it be that much damage since only a couple of tiles were moved by the wind as seen in the picture taken by the drone. How could they determine that since no manual inspection was made. The revised bid came back with an option for only 2 rows of tiles to be repaired for about $1,600 and we went ahead with that option. When the final invoice came with the balance, we questioned why the charge of $150 for a portable toilet since none was used and in fact the job only took about 2 hours from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The revised invoice deleted that charge with the explanation that we should not have been charged for the portable toilet. The bottom line is that we feel that it is a very loose charging system and we probably got over charged for a two hour job.
This company was a waste of my time. I scheduled them to come out for some repairs. They came and inspected, and from the beginning all they talked about was new roof options. I had to remind the guy that I was looking for repair pricing. They said they would email the different options. When I checked their email there were no repair rates, only new roof and new roof with solar options. Never listened to what I wanted. Our roof does not need to be replaced yet, as we had confirmed by other roofing companies. They obviously focus on selling new roofs only. I'm fine if that's all they do but be upfront about it. If they can't be honest about this simple thing, it makes question what else they're less than truthful about.
I called to have someone come look at a leak in our bedroom. They said if it’s not an emergency I have to wait until 2 weeks and if it is an emergency that I’ll probably wait a couple days plus the emergency visit charge $399 just to assess the damage to THEN also estimate a cost to repair. Do not recommend working with a company that is not straight to the point.
Really unprofessional people They keep calling you 1000 times and they don’t stop. They keep laughing when i ask them not to call me. Do not trust them and don’t give them ur phone number.
Unethical. That's How I can Give you a summary. Run. The speed you should run should be calculated as he is very unethical
They were booked up till February and I need work done now. Subsequently, they were no help at all.
If I can give Chandler's Roofing zero star I would do in a heart beat! I first got in touch with them in Nov.14, my rep was Daniel, I got a quote on my 1950 very old simple 2000 SF house for around $38,000 without insulation and another quote with insulation and old insulation removal for around $46,000, i had to sign with them as I'm busy business woman and have no time to waste around in getting more estimates! They told me it will take 4 weeks or so and i agreed, what they didn't tell me is that they have very few people working for them and they have to wait until a roof is done to move to next, I thought this was big company i'm dealing with based on the meeting with Daniel who convinced me that they were big and have been in business tons of years. I was also offered to apply to Wells Fargo home improvement visa with zero interest for one year this was documented by Erica at their office, I applied and got approved to $18,000 only and to my surprised I saw 27% interest rate! I call Daniel and email Erica but both stuck to the story that I need to call Wells Fargo and they will fix the problem, but this not what made me give them the one star rating! I asked them to send me some addresses in Palos Verdes Estates so I can see their work, they sent me some few addressed in Rolling Hills and PVE in which I was surprised, a company like this and have only few examples to show many were done a year or more back, I then selected a color that I liked in which they told me it was good for me city and available, I signed the contract on Dec.1st.14 and paid through Wells Fargo visa, a month and two past by and there was always some excuses: rain, customer were before me ... I understand that you can't install a roof on rainy day but I signed up and was going to pay double what I suppose to pay for others just because I was convinced that were big and old known company and have the resources to install my roof ASAP not run away with tons of excuses! In Feb.15 I call them again and Daniel was telling me that I need to go get the city approvals myself!! Excuse me!! 2.5 month and you still didn't get the city approvals and it was supposedly your job to do and now you want me to do it myself! What are you there for? Then few days later in Feb.15 they call and tell me that my turn is coming soon! YAY what a blessing! They also told me that the material and color I liked originally is no longer available! I go check with the manufacturer of this material and I find out that that color was discontinued 2 years back! And again I have to change the color but this time they have no house to show me examples of and o only can see it on the little shingles, this was the end of it, I could no longer trust these people: first the visa was not with no interest but with a whooping 27% interest rate? 2nd it took 2.5 month of me chasing them so they can do my roof, they had me in their pocket, $1000 is paid already and I would never go anywhere so why they would do my roof on time! I can wait while they are taking more customers , 3rd the color is not available is been out for two years! How could they have not known this! I called them and told them I'm canceling as I no longer can trust someone like them in the most important part of my house, they told me that's fine but we not refunding the deposit because they bought the materials and I ask about the permits and all of sudden permits got done once they saw me canceling! I ended up paying not $1000 for the deposit but $1400+ to Wells Fargo who double charged me the interest rate in these two month and no matter who I call they were very confused and not only this Wells Fargo made a mistake with my account after it been paid in full they reported to the credit agencies that I was late in payments then later apologized for this mistake! This was a nightmare experience! I was charged $1000 for materials that I never got, chandlers told Well Fargo that they bought the materials already! So if Chandlers bought some roofing materials why the heck they don't deliver it to me!! Even if it will be no use for me? If your excuse for Wells Fargo on the $1000 deposit was that you have bought some materials and you can't possibly refund me my deposit then by all mean be fair enough and deliver these materials to me, I paid for it, you refused to refund it. Why are you keeping it?
I must be one of the few that are very sorry we used Chandler roofing for our project. Brian came out to look at our small 2 building pitched roof apartments, and was very professional and convincing. We paid for a satellite photo, he got on the roof and did a thorough survey and he presented us with his proposal. Even though the price seemed high, we asked about any added work he deemed to be required, and we were told that the price reflected the condition of the roof, and not to worry. The companies credentials and awards seemed excellent. Well, even though we could see that there were previous roofs (the buildings are from the 1940's or so), and we asked also to include any tear offs on the quote, he said not to worry. We hired Chandler roofing for the job. At the same time we had them do extensive repair job on a flat roof of a building nearby we also own. We had to wait for rain to test this job. Starting day one there were extras on this pitched roof project, tearing off a second roof we asked him about (and was not included in the price), removing TV antennas that were clearly on the satellite photo AND his survey of the roof, patching around the fireplace chimney (which didn't miraculously appear) and replacing the shingle on 2 eyebrows over windows. There were some legitimate extras, but our job increased exponentially. It was a battle each and every day with Chandler. Back to the flat roof repair. The costly repair lasted until just until a mild rain (several month later), and they even denied working on that part of the roof. We had to take them to small claims court to get this repaired. Last weeks large downpour (maybe 1 year after the work was done), but the only major rain we have had since the work was done, allowed major rain in. I could go on. Probably going to small claims court again. I would think twice about using Chandler.
We wanted to prepare for the El Nino Weather and fix some of the problem spots in our Roof. At first is started out nice Ricardo Diaz came out and was super friendly and professional. We decided to go with Chandlers Roofing and had an appt on Dec. 4th and that they would arrive between 8:30 to 9am. I came in early to the building they did not show up almost 12pm. I take time very seriously and for me to go out of my way to wait 3 hours is unacceptable. However, they finished in a couple of hours and left. Luckily a month later Los Angeles had its first major down pour and I felt secure that we wouldnt have any issues. However, coming into the office all the problem areas were still leaking. I called them immediately stating we having the same problem. I spoke to customer service and they said they would have Ricardo Diaz call me as soon as possible. One Day passes no response, so I called again, giving them just a reminder, because it was raining very hard in LA and assumed they were extremely business. Ricardo did end up calling me and said he would call me back. Yet, he did not call me back. So I called again the next day and said they will look into this issue have him call me again. Again NO response. So, I called again, I paid money for them to fix the areas and The same areas are still leaking. Yet, after calling 5 times, I still do not have not received an answer on how they will fix this issue. Leaving a bad feedback may be the only way they will resolve this and get their attention. It so sad, because on Angies List they are highly recommended. Maybe They are Fake reviews.
This review is not based on Chandler's Roofing completing my repair, but rather the long delay in starting the job and FOUR cancellations. Chandler's Roofing came to my home, which is three miles from their office, and examined my roof for a repair. I sent them a deposit for the job on October 9, 2017. The first phone call I received was to schedule the repair, a one day job, on February 2, 2018 - a full 4 MONTHS after the initial estimate. Chandler's then cancelled and rescheduled for February 7, 2018. Then they cancelled again and rescheduled for February 10, 2018. Chandler's just called today (Feb 9) to cancel again and reschedule for February 15, 2018. The excuses were endless. After FOUR cancellations, I decided to cancel their service. Since the very beginning, my schedule has been completely open and I was available any day. Inclement weather didn't effect my scheduled date at all either. This experience has been very frustrating and disappointing. I don't know how they can run a business like this. They clearly don't have respect for their customers' time and schedules. If the job is too small for them, why don't they just say so instead of postponing it over and over? It's been suggested to me that they're only interested in doing complete roof jobs and not repairs. So if you only need a repair and not an entire new roof, you are placed last on the list and bumped back, over and over, whenever a bigger job comes along. I'm sure that I won't get my deposit back, but it's worth it not to give them my $2800.00 business.
Well, I used this company for the first time in my 27 years in San Pedro to do some repairs. I went into their office and was willing to pay 50% on the cost of the work. I was advised their policy was only 10%. So I was told the work would be done in about 2 weeks. It was raining off & on, so I called them in 2 weeks and was told due to the rain they were behind schedule & my work would be delayed another month. I told them I could not wait & would seek other services which I did. These people declined my deposit refund based on their 3 day cancellation clause. I would have never cancelled if they did not delay my work. Why would I have cancelled them if I ended up paying double what they had charged. You failed to keep your schedule to your customer then refute my claim to my credit card company??????To show my good intentions, I recommended a friend to them for a new roof. When my friend called to set up an appointment she was told : "WE REALLY ONLY DO WORK IN THE SOUTH SHORES AREA". I work in the building & construction trade & will never recommend this company again to anyone. Chandler's Roofing, please honor your words to your client. Its not the funds I've lost, it's the principle. By the way, my credit card company has reversed the charges on my behalf because I have been an outstanding customer for many, many years. Chandler, San Pedro is a small community, be fair to the residents. Let your conscience rule your business.
I hired them to waterproof my flat roof 3 years ago. I asked if a silicone cover would be a good solution in my case and they said yes as they had done that on many roofs. Also, I had them seal the HVAC ducts running over the roof. A year later, the Silicone membrane started blistering and cracking, and the duct seal started cracking too, revealing the seams again. I asked Chandler's to apply the material warranty, but it turned out they had never registered the material batches serial numbers as they should have, with Gaco (now Firestone), the maker of the silicone seal (with a 50 year material warranty). Brady came by and fixed a couple of blisters in the beginning, and then left me a bucket of silicone patch, that I completely used up over the last 3 years, and the blisters are still coming, and cracking. When I got the bucket initially, I had expected there would maybe be a couple more blisters and didn't mind doing it myself, since I wouldn't have to deal with with Chandler's response time... My emails to the company asking for a refund or a fix has been unanswerd to this day. It's highly insulting that I paid for work and material and it's ok for this company not to remedy their mistakes, or even try. This is kindergarden economy style. I called them based on their reputation. I'm now looking into legal remedies as the statue of limitations is still open.
I called to get an estimate today for a property my client is buying and I nearly TIPPED OVER when they told me what their charge was JUST TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE. Are you ready? $500!!!!!!!! Can you BELIEVE that? $500 just to give us an estimate!! When I first asked for an estimate and she stated there was a fee, I figured it couldn't possibly be more than $100-150(and I thought that was being generous considering other bids you get for ANYTHING getting repaired in your home are typically free). When I told her I didn't need a roof certification that all I needed was an estimate it didn't seem to make a difference. Her answer was, escrow is going to ask for this paper and its given to you for the $500. Umm... HUH? I think I know the difference between needing an ESTIMATE and a ROOF CERT and I was clear to state an estimate was all I was calling for. 1st. I'm a local RE agent, my clients ask for roofing referrals ALL THE TIME. 2nd. My client will need to get their roof repaired as soon as we close escrow. Guess who won't be getting the business? I still can't believe she was able to tell me the charge was $500 just for coming out to bid. Complete and utter craziness. Even my lawyer doesn't charge $500 for a consultation. Did I mention the house I wanted the estimate for was only 3 min from their office? Geesh.
After waiting two days to get an initial response to them I had to wait another half a week until they could get to my house. We discussed my solar power needs and what I wanted and was told I would have a response in 3 days... A week and a half later I contacted them and they asked for another 2 days to get a response to me. THREE days later I called and asked where it was and they said they would have it the next day. The response, when finally sent, was only one of the two different type of proposals I had asked for and 50% more system than I would need and over 50% more expensive than anything we had ever discussed as a possible budget. I asked them what if I bought my own system and they said give them another week... well after two weeks they seem to have lost interest or decided I was not going to be their next milk cow. Obviously they have too much business right now, a problem that tends to be self-correcting.
John Chlarson shows up to provide a requested estimate for new roof. He does not measure the roof, does a visual look and starts talking code to me. As a layman I know basic roofing concepts that us it. The he says ok give me about 2 weeks. I asked no need to climb my roof, measure etc. No, 2 weeks. I ask q&a advise what I want. He says we only sell synthetic not 40 lbs paper. How one responds to questions and answers including demeanor makes a difference. Businesses may be great and one may be indifferent if he gets the job. One day this may change. I contacted this company based on reviews. Maybe if I had a different estimator. I called about 1 wk later to the office checking status of the estimate. Message taken, not return call or follow up. Needless to say I went with someone else.
I had worked with chandler's around 2014 to roof my house and they were very professional. So now that our new house needs a roof we asked for an estimate. Chandler's said they could come out Monday April 1st. I had the girl double check that they are working on the day after Easter and she said yes so that's what I put on my calendar. When Monday arrived they said sent a text that our appt was Tuesday. Strike one! So we met Tuesday April 2nd. It is now April 11th and they still haven't sent out the estimate. Strike two! In my mind this is a company who doesn't value people. So I will share this will all my friends. Strike three!
Probably not the company to go with if you need a skylight fixed. Took over two weeks (and three phone calls to the company) to receive the estimate from Daniel. Many excuses were made about the lag time. After two weeks, the estimate was not for the product we requested. Took another two weeks to get an estimate for the product we wanted. I am sorry to leave the bad review as we really wanted to hire a local company, but steer clear.
Outrageous! I had a simple repair needed on 2 leaky skylights. They came out & gave me a bid of almost $1800! Seems to me they were making a minor job into a major money maker for them. I paid another company $350 for the same job. So be sure to get other estimates...you may feel lucky like I do...now have $ for other needed items.
I used Chandler's to replace my roof back in November, and have been contemplating whether to leave a review. It's been several months since they completed the roof, and I'm still bothered about the quality of their work. Overall, I think the roof is of good quality and the roofing crew did a decent job of replacing the roof, but there were several issues along the way: - There was a bald spot on my old roof, and heavy rain was forecasted within a week or so, so I asked them how soon they could start on the job. They said they would work me in within a few days - which I was pleased about - but then there was an extensive delay in getting the roof replacement permit. It took weeks when it should have only taken days, and Chandler's repeatedly misrepresented the status of the permit, but I still ended up having to pay a rather expensive fee for having them do it. - After the old roof was removed, the crew didn't return for several days, during which time blackbirds entered my attic through a 24-inch hole the crew left uncovered, and the birds ransacked some of my belongings that were stored there. I had to chase them out and put a piece of cardboard over the hole. - When removing the old roof, the crew was very negligent in protecting my home, as well as the homes of my neighbors next to mine, causing some damage. - The clean-up job was VERY poor. I had to clean up many pieces of debris from my back patio and from the planters on each side Also, much debris from the roof was left in the rain gutters, which if no removed would have resulted in blockage when rain runoff wouldn't be able to get through, and the rain gutter splash guards were bend outward, which would lead to erosion under the gutters. I informed Chandler's of all of these issues, and 4 days later they did send a couple of crew members back to the house "to address the above-mentioned concerns". All they did was clean out the rain gutters and fix the bent splash guards, but I'm still finding substantial pieces of roofing material in my planters that have blown off the roof, so they obviously didn't remove all of the debris. I also noticed recently when I went up in the attic that they hadn't centered the attic vent properly over the hole that was cut in the roof, so it's only partially effective. This should have been noticed in Chandler's final inspection. Through the entire project, there was very little actual supervision of the crew, and I'm not convinced the Chandler's project manager actually did a final detailed inspection. Although I was home throughout the entire roof replacement process, no alerted me or met with me regarding the final inspection; I was just shown some distant photos of the finished work by one of the crew members. I didn't discover the issue with the material in the gutters until I had a neighbor take more close-up photos of the roof with his drone. What further disappointed me is that I never received an apology or an offer to fix/replace the damage to my house and shrubs. However, they did reach out a few times about where their final payment was, which I held off on paying until they at least cleaned and fixed the gutters. I'm not saying you shouldn't use Chandler's, but if you do, please be aware that you'll probably need to be diligently managing the work yourself from start to finish to make sure it's done properly and without damage.
We have used Chandlers for two three jobs. We had them replace our skylights and flashing. They did a great job until the rainy season and we had leaks. They came out to fix the leaks and 600+ dollars later our roof/skylights were leaking again. We decided to just tarp our roof and wait till after the rains to get a new roof. Called Chandler and was told 800.00 to tarp our roof. Told them I needed to get the HOA approval and when I called back it became 1000.00. I was desperate so said yes. They came out and tarped (or so we thought) and the next week it rains. Sure enough I have leaks in my closet. Come to find out they only tarped half of the roof. I called and they said because we didn't have leaks on that side at that time they didn't tarp. I was livid, our contract was for the whole roof to be tarped. They came out and tarped the other side. A few days later we notice our toilet is gasping when we flush it. Turns out they tarped over the vents. We called and spoke to the president. He came out with a crew and fixed it a few days later. Told us if we had any jother problems to let him know. Was hopeful that was the end of the tarp drama but after about 4 weeks we notice pieces of plastic coming down. Turns out they didn't use a heavy tarp they used some thin cheap plastic and strips of it! A few days later we have 4 sandbags hanging half on half off. I call the president and within 24 hours our project manager calls to tell us he can send someone out to fix it at 75.00 and hour. I said great and that was 2 months ago! No phone call, no one showed up. They were being considered to roof our whole complex and I wouldn't hire them if they did it for free. For 1000.00 I expected a tarp not some left over cheap drop cloth type material poorly positioned. I also expected them to do the whole roof per our contract. Be careful they cut corners, if you are not up there watching them they could cut corners on your roof!
We hired Chandler Roofing to do our 2 homes in the South Bay Area. We had been referred to them by our friends for their level of service and craftsmanship, however we were sadly disappointed with the overall service we were provided by the company. We had booked them initially back in February, however due to their backlog they informed us they wouldn't be able to start for 1 month. 1 month is acceptable, however the date kept getting pushed out and they didn't start the work until the last week of April. Once they started it seemed pretty efficient until the second or third day. They were sending only 3 workers so our 1 story home took them 2 weeks, then our 2 story home, they sent us 6 workers and the work was finished within 7 days. Throughout the process we asked for more workers, for the company to be more transparent on timeline and expectations but most of the workers were very unhelpful, the only consistent help was Blake. Also we had some of their workers smoking on our roofs throughout the project, after being told multiple times by us and the company to not smoke on the job. The overall process was very frustrating and for the amount of money we were spending we expected more professionalism and better set expectations on timeline, especially from the front administrative office. We were happy with the end result, but had we known that we'd have to work so hard to figure out what was going on, we would have gone with a different company.
They put in our roof in 1999, Manhattan Beach flat roof. Looks pretty good still in 2013. Bought the 20 yr warranty. We've been calling for a few years about leaks but were pushed off. This year reached a new guy who was nice & sent a sales guy over. He suggested they could tear it up looking for the leak, or just put a coating over everything. I brought in a local roofer recommended on Yelp. He pointed out all the wrinkles they left in, the seams face into water flow vs away, the chimney was wrong material sitting unprotected in a low pooling area (it rotted, but the Chandler guy didn't find the golf ball size hole), and the outflow holes were too small. I gave up pushing the warranty and used someone who seemed to know his business better.
Had an appointment this morning for 8:00-10:00, for a small job. They did not show up and did not even have the courtesy to call. I know that they are basically good guys, but it looks like their attention to customer satisfaction is slipping.
A few things to consider when you think about hiring this company or any company to complete a major home repair. Ask questions and be highly involved. This is your home and you have to live here. I'm providing this review objectively and fairly based on my experience with the company. I hired Chandlers Roofing around September/October 2023 to do a complete roof installation on my nearly 70 year old house. I didn't really have a lot of water damage but the roof had excessive layers (no longer legal) that were showing age and some of the shingles were starting to fall off. Upon signing the contract and paying the starting deposit, I didn't get put on the schedule until late January 2024. I called the main office pretty regularly only to find out I was in a queue of other homeowners in excess of 30 clients so I was not getting my roof anytime soon. With excessive rain in the forecast, my project was delayed on several occasions. My start date ended up being delayed until the second week of February. The very first day only about 2 or 3 workers arrived to complete a roof tear-off. I was told by the owner that tear-offs typically take between half a day to 1 day. My tear off took around 3-4 days. The crew moved painstakingly slow. They spent a lot of time lingering... talking and hanging around. They stopped work to call the main office to inform them I had multiple roof layers. The office seemed surprised and completely unaware that I had additional layers and promptly sent me a bill for those additional layers (per contract 1 layer removal is included. Additional layers $$$). Both Brian and Mike made a comment about my roof having multiple layers initially so there was no secret my house had 3 layers. Once the crew confirmed the additional layers with the office, they resumed work. Out of all the days they arrived, there were only about 2-4 workers each day with the exception of one day being 6 workers. I was told upon hiring that they have 8 teams of 10 people or more and that they don't start working on a new project until they finish the previous one. This is apparently a sales pitch because they don't have that many workers on a project at once. The crew worked on my roof for about 6 days leaving my roof about 60% done. The workers started to slow down work even more on this day because they apparently ran out of roof supplies even though there were still 2 packs of roof materials left to use. The materials were left on my roof for several days causing rust to form on my brand new shingles. I was told they had miscalculated my roof size and didn't have enough materials to actually finish and didn't have the materials available. The crew left my house open with paper on top that they claimed was "waterproof". I had rain coming into my garage for 2 1/2 days with the wood getting soaked through and water falling on electric outlets that had to be shut off to avoid a fire. I called Mike to inform him of the issue and he said, "Oh that's wind-driven rain!" and that my house was waterproof while water was coming inside. During that same day, I called the main office and was directed to call Mike or Brian. I ended up reaching Brian who also tried to convince me my house was waterproof when I was sitting there looking at rain dripping inside my home. When I requested a tarp be put over my house, was told it would be an additional fee $$ and that he could give me a "fantastic deal" for getting one. Also stated rather blatantly that I shouldn't have started a roof project during the winter season and that "I" the customer could have declined the start date. I mean....6 days of working on my roof the project should have been done! There was absolutely no reason why my roof was left unfinished for upcoming rain or the fact that a tarp was not even offered for free because they didn't finish and knew they weren't going to. Had I known the crew would not be finished with my roof before the rain, I would have never allowed them to start in the first place. Workers arrived the following day after it had rained to complete what they had left open. The wood was soaked and yet they proceeded to stick paper and shingles over that. Roof vents were removed or covered that should not have been. They didn't change out all of the rotted or split wood and pretty much split every piece of wood on or around my roof with misplaced nails. The color clarity is off. The roof looks brown and mismatched. I made the mistake of also having them install rain gutters. A crew of 4 men took two days over 8 hours each day to install rain gutters. There is just absolutely no way. And the installation with this company is far from over because my house recently failed inspection or at least received a partial pass for incorrect installation. The "best" crew did a lackluster job and the lack of attention to detail and craftmanship shows.
A contractor pointed I out the wood used in one of my eaves was old wood and had termite damage. This was after paying thousands to Chandlers above contract price to replace wood on my roof. The service was terrible. Be sure to read EVERY line in the Chandler contract.
