The call started with Abel from Downtown AC checking over our old 13 year unit that originally came with the house 7 years ago. With a leak inside the air handler in such an old unit, we were looking at a new purchase. Making such an expensive and important purchase is stressful, but Abel took all the time I needed to answer every exhaustive question I had. Paying attention to my focus around efficiency, he even made suggestions in that vein, which eventually I took as well. Once the install time came, Kyle and Austin took over, and carried that amazing service through. Kyle once again answered a few questions I'd come up with since speaking with Abel, and got back with me after checking with his home office for the correct answers on estimates he wasn't 100% sure on, so I knew it wasn't just info to placate me temporarily. And his suggestions weren't up sells when there was no need for one, but simple reassurances around facts i.e. wherever pre existing piping would work best instead of adding to the estimate by putting in newer ones. They did an amazing job on the install, kept the area completely clean, even after installing a new grate, handler, hurricane pad, some small vent work, and outdoor unit as well as the required electrical work. Didn't even need to pick up after them either. At the end Abel went over settings for the new thermostat, as well as answering more technical questions I had as new options opened up for our with the new unit in the house such as best practices for ongoing maintenance. Both techs were perfectly polite, absolutely professional, and genuinely nice to chat up! Look, honestly this was a huge purchase for us. And I'm the type to research 9 ways to kingdom come before feeling good about such an investment. But all three men were the definitive nail in the coffin to feeling like we'd made the right choice of company to go with for our installation. I know I'll ever only call one ac repair company again. ( though hopefully not for a very long ;D ) EDIT 2023: Just called this month since the AC was making a small rattling sound and had Danny come out to inspect the unit. Though I wasn't too worried with the unit being so new, I still thought it a good idea to get it double checked for the loud noise. As soon as Danny got on site and he saw the unit, he immediately diagnosed the issue: a non important small plastic piece that could start getting loose in the exterior casing of the unit. It wouldn't hurt the performance in the least, however it's just something that can start to happen with vibrations of the unit as a whole. Wasn't even a second before he got in they're and verified, fixed it and it hasn't made a noise since. Excellent service as always and speaks to the knowledge of the technicians. Still highly recommend Downtown and Danny was awesome!
I've hired Downtown Air and Heat on several occasions over the years. The first was more than 8 years ago when Shawn, the owner, performed an hvac inspection for me prior to the purchase of my home. I found his services to be professional, friendly and informative. He not only performed a thorough inspection, but was also very adept at clearly describing the issues that he found and their implications. Shawn was knowledgeable, reasonably priced and a pleasure to work with. Since that first service, several of Shawn's techs have come out to maintain my very old unit. They have all been professional, highly communicative, punctual and honest during service calls. A few months ago, Melvin came to the house to service my unit and he not only fixed the problem I was having at the time, but he showed me how to maintain and repair a wiring issue I was experiencing and even left me with some extra wire to address the issue if it came up again. I appreciated him taking the time to not only fix my ac issue but also to teach. Last week I finally bit the bullet and decided to replace my ac. Austin, Kyle and an apprentice were the techs for the install and they did an awesome job. They kept me informed every step of the way and asked permission before performing any tasks that might impact my property. My house and ac are old and I could tell that they ran into a few unexpected challenges that added a few hours to the job, but they problem solved, didnt cut corners, didnt complain and stayed well into the evening to ensure that the job was done right and when it was time to pay, they honored the price we'd agreed to despite the unexpected extra hours. Thank you Austin, Kyle and apprentice for a job well done and thank you Shawn for the culture of excellence, professionalism, and integrity you've cultivated in your business.
How much do you love your A/C company? Do you trust them? Would you let them watch your cat? Do you think the people who work there would be interesting to hang out with at a BBQ or theme park? What about the other factors? The ones that matter and keep you sane and comfortable. Are they knowledgeable? Will they thoroughly troubleshoot an issue from head to toe? If they don't know, will they learn? Do they honor their word (and their warranties)? As a beyond satisfied customer with Downtown Air and Heat, I promise you: Shawn and his entire team embody that...AND MORE. When everyone else told us replacing our ductwork was impractical or impossible (some even suggesting we should move or rip the roof off), Shawn managed to do the job with minimal disruption in three days. When others downplayed our ongoing concerns about air quality, Shawn consulted an environmental consultant, embraced a clean air protocol, and even bought special tools to perform the work safely and correctly. When our replaced evaporator coil (separate from the ductwork) started making a weird whistling noise, Shawn repeatedly returned, trying new things, until the problem resolved. Shawn is courteous, dependable, conscientious, comforting, and willing. He answers questions you don't know you should ask and takes great pride in providing professional, competent care. Shawn, I can't thank you enough for the great experience. Not only did you restore our air quality (which wasn't an easy job), in a very real way, you also restored our faith in humanity. When you're ready to hit up that theme park, let us know. <3 #limitedcrawlspace #successfulductremovalreplacement #winterparkflorida #healingenvironmentalillness #housesfromthe40's #wortheverypenny #traumainformed #healingcontractorrelatedPTSD
I've had a great experience with Downtown Air & Heat. I live in Oviedo which isn't exactly "downtown", however, Shawn has never hesitated to come out at a convenient time for me. My previous AC companies (yes, more than 1) had told me my system needed replacement and would break soon... in gathering quotes on a new system, Shawn from Downtown came over and measured, assessed, etc... He was one of 4 quotes we received and by far the most informative and lowest priced to boot. In addition, he told me my system was in good shape and didn't really need immediate replacement! Well, we went with him and it's been a year and a half now and no problems at all. He taught me how to do a monthly "self service" to keep my AC in top performance and it's worked great! Shawn is very honest and up front with you about what your options are and he definitely does NOT pressure you to replace your system if it's not needed. As long as he's in business; I'll be a customer. This is how business is supposed to be done! ***Update*** I've since moved to a new home across town with an older AC model. Downtown Air & Heat is helping me keep this one alive as long as possible until I have the $$$ saved to replace it. THIS is why I love this company; they aren't trying to sell you a new unit... they're doing what is in YOUR best interest. Doesn't get better than this.
My upstairs AC stopped working. So when I called downtown air and heat at 11:30am, I was actually expecting to set up an appointment for later on in the week or maybe next week. They showed up at 1:00p.m. the HVAC tech. Michael was dressed very professionally, and he was very polite. As he walked into my house he put shoe covers on. In a very quick and efficient manner, he listen to what I told him of the behavior of the AC, he looked at the AC unit and diagnosed the problem. He replaced the AC overflow switch, and was very helpful in looking at what other problems could possibly be in the future. He flushed the clogged PVC drainage lines, and cleaned them out. He was here for about an hour and a half. In the past I have had other companies quote prices for such work, but today I was charged half of what the other companies have quoted. I do not remember the other company's names off the top of my head, but I will remember that downtown air and heat is a company that cares about quality, punctuality, value, professionalism, and doing overall good work. -Aaron
I had a great experience with Downtown Air and Heat yesterday. My air conditioning shut down because my condensate line was completely clogged, and their technician, Keegan, arrived at my home within just an hour and a half of calling. Not only did he quickly and expertly fix the problem, but he also took the time to share valuable tips about ongoing maintenance, ensuring I understood how to keep my system running smoothly in the future. Keegan's patience in explaining everything was truly remarkable, and he made sure I was comfortable with all the information he provided. I was especially impressed by his professionalism and respect for my property. Keegan was kind, thorough, and left everything cleaner than he found it. His friendly demeanor made the entire experience pleasant and stress-free. If you're looking for reliable, respectful, and knowledgeable A/C services, I would definitely recommend Downtown Air and Keegan.
I found these guys through recommendations on Reddit (they never disappoint) and Downtown Air is the best HVAC company I have ever worked with. I can be suspicious of contractors, since it is so common to be overcharged for services and I have been bamboozled in the past. Not with Downtown Air. We had a major A/C problem shortly after closing on our house in Lake Mary and Danny was the best, he genuinely cares about his customers and takes his time to throughly troubleshoot problems. He educates so much knowledge to his customers that I found myself gaining a wealth of understanding about the functionality of my unit. They also worked with our HVAC warranty company to save us money. Overall this company is a holy grail and will not disappoint.
I was referred to Downtown Air and Heat after receiving an unreasonably high quote from another company that didn’t even notice how dirty my split systems were—they were covered in mildew (unbeknownst to me at the time). Melvin from Downtown Air and Heat arrived promptly and immediately diagnosed the issue. He explained that the systems needed a thorough cleaning to function properly. A few days later, Melvin returned with Danny to complete the job. Despite persistent rain slowing their progress, they worked efficiently and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout. Their attention to detail and commitment to doing the job right, even under less-than-ideal conditions, was impressive. They have earned a lifelong customer in me!
After a frustrating experience with Del-Air, I reached out to Downtown Air—and I’m so glad I did. From the first phone call, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, and quickly scheduled a technician to come out and verify the issue previously diagnosed. Danny arrived right on time, confirmed the problem, and got the part ordered right away. The part was under warranty, and about a week later, it arrived and Melvin and Tony completed the replacement efficiently and professionally. The unit is now running smoothly, and I couldn’t be happier with the entire service team. Best of all, they completed the repair for half the labor cost quoted by their competitor. Professional, responsive, and honest—highly recommend Downtown Air!
Danny with Downtown A/C was great! Had a thermostat physically break when I took it off the wall to replace the battery due to corrosion. Reviewed available thermostats available at big box stores and decided I would rather be safe than sorry, so called Downtown. It turned out, after Danny replaced the thermostat that we had two other issues, the condensation line was full of water and plugged up and one of the fuses inside the air handler was bad. So a couple quick fixes and all good. Also, had Danny replace the 2nd thermostat, and glad I did, the batteries were corroded in that one too. Cost a little more than just a couple thermostats, but learned a few maintenance tips and the new thermostats don’t need batteries!
Just got done with these wonderful people. Had Pablo come out first to replace the blower motor, then had Melvin come out to flush out my pipes. Both of these guys plus Kewana handling the scheduling at the office have made my experience with this company absolutely wonderful. Called these guys first because of their outstanding reviews and the reviews don't lie! Wonderful customer service, helped me finally fix my ac, were definitely not trying to scam like some other companies, were professional, honest, helpful and reliable. I really appreciate all their help and this will definitely be the only company I use for my AC problems from now on! Thank you guys! Keep up the great work!
Downtown air is the real deal. We had an inspection done by a Leading hvac company Mxxxxxx Axxxxxx who told us that we needed a $2500 treatment due to black mold in our ducts and showed us actual pictures, But Apon, their departure, I noticed that there was no debris, or change of appearance in our attic Access .Having our doubts, we called downtown Air, with whom we dealt with in the past for services, The Tech did an inspection, and returned to inform us that there was NO BLACK MOLD in our system!!! Ultimately we were advised to do a basic cleaning and service. Since then we faithfully use downtown Air .They remain reliable. Honest, and always offer fair pricing
Right after the hurricane came through, they were able to get on site within short notice. Diagnosed the problem, the handler motor, and contacted the manufacturer, determined its warranty status, and got a replacement and installed it the next day. Everyone else was dodgy or didn't answer the phone. No hidden fees, just upfront $129 service call to diagnose and then $429 or so labor to fix it. Is that higher than a few other places I called? Sure, marginally. I'd rather pay more for immediate and quality service than waste time with vendors who take too long and are backed way up. I will use them as my go-to from now on. Keegan, you're star. Thanks.
UPDATE: (June 6, 2018) Another awesome visit from Ryan a year later. They were super busy but fit me in next day. A/C unit went out on us and still same great service and fair honest pricing! We support great, honest, fairly priced small businesses like Downtown Air and Heat! (2017) Awesome Experience with Downtown Air and Heat! Decided to try them out based on YELP reviews and glad I did. Based on first visit, they are honest and reasonably priced. Ryan was very professional, on time, and came with shoe covers. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy customers and that our unit was good to go for summer! :)
excellent experience again . This is our third time using this company since we purchased our new home. The service has been absolutely fabulous. I would not use any other company as long as these guys are around. My technician Melvin took care of us once again. He also gives me a class every time and explains what’s going on with our unit. The technician and the company don’t just find a versus give you a bill Didn’t leave. They explained exactly what The fix, Possibly what caused it and even how to prevent , Do not hesitate to contact this company and ask for the technician, Mr Melvin.
This place will really take care of you! I had my ac go out and was told it was my compressor. Melvin came out and discovered it was not the compressor but a certain part. Unfortunately the part was back ordered for a bit. They have been working with me to find the part faster. It has been a 2 week ordeal but the office staff and techs have been on point with communication and providing updates. I finally got the part and Melvin and Abraham came in today and in under 2 hours had me rocking and rolling. Big thanks to the both Melvin and Abraham for providing excellent service the entire time!
From the moment I called Downtown Air and Heat, to schedule my first service visit, their customer service was prompt, friendly, and professional. The technician (Daniel) who came out was incredibly knowledgeable and courteous making sure everything was explained clearly. What really impressed me was their commitment to follow through—not just with the initial service, but with the six-month inspection as well. Most companies disappear after the contract is signed. That kind of follow-up is rare and shows they truly care about long-term customer satisfaction. Highly recommend!
Thanks Downtown AC for quick response and excellent service for our spring AC checkup. Danny was our technician. He has serviced our home AC for the past 5 years and does an excellent job. I think having the same tech for multiple years says a lot about a company and the tech who want to work there. Downtown AC has experienced service people, who are current with all the technology and have well supplied service vehicles, so they get the job done right the first time. Very fair prices for their service. I highly recommend Downtown AC to all my friends and neighbors!
This is the first review I ever wrote and it’s because it’s the best service I ever experienced from a ac company. I had all the old ducts and vents removed and all new ones installed and some low voltage wiring replaced. Kyle and Austin were the techs they sent out. These guys were so professional and knowledgeable and not to mention so polite. They let me know exactly what they were doing and constantly cleaning up behind themselves. They were here 3 days and always on time in the mornings. Downtown air will always be my go to ac company from now on.
100% completely satisfied. I couldn't be happier! Abraham took care of me from start to finish, from meeting with me and discussing my options to completing my custom install. These guys are pros and professional. Shawn delivered the estimate and was there to help out Abraham and to answer all my equipment questions. Cant thank them enough for getting me exactly what I wanted. Even came back for one short service call to change out a bad thermostat! Awesome response time and diagnosis of the issue. Cool breeze! Thank you guys.
My air conditioner stopped working early Saturday morning today. Within minutes of searching online I decided to move forward with contacting Downtown Air and heat. The person that answer was extremely professional and polite. Later on the day, Abraham gave me a courtesy call within the arrival window. He showed up right on time. Wore shoe covers inside my home. And diagnosed my unit at a reasonable time A simple repair was needed. But the service was more than outstanding. I will continue to use their service for years to come.
Thank you Danny for your help and informative approach to ensuring I know what is going on with my system and getting it fixed quickly. I have used Downtown Air and Heat a few times, and the whole crew has all been great. I appreciate Danny and the other team members for being part of a genuine and helpful HVAC company that I can trust. I’ve been burned quite a bit this past year (2023) with contractor, but Downtown Air and Heat reminds me that there are still some good people out there wanting to provide a good service.
Downtown Air and Heat recently replaced our 45 year old ducts. Shawn, who owns the company, worked along with the crew for almost the entirety of the four day job. Abraham was also on the job every step of the way. The level of attention to detail, the high standards they maintain for their work, their friendliness, helpfulness, knowledge and expert execution of all phases of the job set them above the competition. They do the job the right way. Shawn, Abraham and Downtown air have our absolute highest recommendation.
We are so glad we called Downtown Air and Heat! After years of mysterious malfunctions from our expensive, complicated AC system (installed by a different company in 2020), topped off by a recent lightning strike, the smart, determined team at Downtown Air and Heat have solved the mysteries and restored our comfort. Special shout-out to Albert, who just refused to give up, but the whole team seems super-smart and organized! Reasonable pricing as well. Thank you, Downtown Air! We are grateful. And cool.
We have received great service and support from Downtown Air over the years. They are always quick to respond to problems and to schedule service if needed. They show up when they say they will and are always efficient and courteous. I appreciate the way they try to teach me how the system works and how to better maintain it. They stand behind their work 100% and will not rest until the customer is satisfied. It has been a pleasure to get to know them and to rely on them!
We have had really great experience with Downtown Our system has a dehumidifier in parallel with our a/c unit. The dehumidifier was failing and Downtown was able to tshoot it and get a replacement unit under warranty. I’m so glad that we found them- We’ve had other companies try to address the issue prior, and none of them were able to sort it. Downtown did! We had two amazing techs that were just awesome: Daniel and Melvin We recommend Downtown - they are great!
Michael did a great job performing on my A/C system. He called me a half hour in advance of his arrival so I had plenty of time to pop out from work and meet him. Very courteous and very thorough. Their recommendations for replacement and the performance of my system were great and I’ll definitely call on them for future repairs and replacement parts. The membership is definitely a good buy and handy to have in the event of an emergency during the summer months.
I’m leaving yet another review here about this company to let the general public know they’re a solid organization. I had some issues with my unit after a service call and the owner personally came out to my property to address the problems and worked with me to resolve it, and now things are running smoothly (and cold) in my house. I’ve been with them for six years and I plan to continue that relationship. Danny, Michael and Shawn are all solid dudes!
Made appt to get a quote on some AC duct repair/replacement. Daniel came at on time and I had the estimate/quote later that day. I called about a week later to make an appt to have the work done. Again, on time arrival and completed the job in the time that was estimated. Daniel and Michael did the work, seemed to work very well together and I am happy with the resulting duct work. Easy to work with, on time appointments, and a fair price for the work.
I really have a two-part review, but the reason for my poor rating is how things ended. I will try to be brief. The first part, everything was great. I got someone to come out, the rate was reasonable for 'diagnostics' compared to other companies, and the tech who came out was very friendly. He looked at my problem and the work I had done and told me I was "90% there," that if i just kept going and in the location he showed me, it would be fixed. I could do that or have him do it for another $147. I chose to try myself and pay just the diagnostic/service call fee. This was around 4 pm. Part two starts here: I could not get the AC to work. I called back to the tech and he told me to call the office and ask to reschedule someone to come out, that I wouldnt have to pay the service fee again, just the cost of the repair. So I called back to the office, got someone on the phone, had them rescheduled for between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. No one came. No one answered the office phone when I called back. The tech did not answer his call when I called back. So we slept the night in the heat. I called Downtown Air first thing this morning, got the receptionist. She said there was a big job today and she would have to check if they could get someone out. Would call me in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, no call so I called back. When I called, I went through this phone system that says 'your call may be recorded' and then was sent to a message that said that the line didnt work. So I called back again. This time, same message but "press 1" and instead of her picking up, the manager I guess picked up. He told me that they were not coming back out today. That I had tried to offer his technician to come to my house off the books and that he called me last night and left a message that they would not be coming back. Neither of these are true. If I wanted to try to hire his tech, why would I have called the office, spoken to someone and then left messages when the person they scheduled never showed up? In the course of our conversation, I was admittedly upset and tried to tell my story. The manager said he 'didnt really have time for this' and that he was 'not going to take my word over his technicians.' All in all, it's one thing to have a mix up or have things not go right. I called back this morning because I had hoped to rectify it and get someone out. I was asking for no favors, just someone to come fix the job and I would pay them. I was told that they were not sending someone out and that they would refund what I spent yesterday (I have not received that refund yet). But to call into question the honesty of the customer before even listening to what the customer has to say, and then refusing service and telling the customer that you don't believe them is totally unacceptable and that is why I give this rating.
This company is not organized at all and I suggest using another company for you AC needs. My experience with this company was not good. My technician that came out helped identify the problem but their solution was not something I would ever want to happen to anyone else in my position. D A & H was my second quote to get this job done. When my tech came out I told them exactly what the problem was and their diagnostic check was hours. I had a bad power wire and a faulty Nest Thermostat. They could not fix the problem that night so they gave me the option to use one of their thermostats and run a temporary wire in the house for the time being so they could finish the project at a later date. Their tech told me a quote and I agreed for one amount to do the work. He said what I paid in being would be deducted from grand total of the complete work. The next day I was called to finish the project but at this point, I was given a totally different price than what the technician and I agreed upon to finish the work. This is unprofessional and not fair. If I didn't agree to the temp wire and thermostat installed nothing would have got correct by D A&H that night and still would have had no AC. I told them to remove the temp. thermostat that we agreed that I would rent temporarily until I purchased a new thermostat. A new technician came out to remove equipment and just CUT THE WIRE AT THE THERMOSTAT & BLEW THE FUSE. Didn't even turn off the break to save the fuse in the air handler! This place is shady do yourself a favor look to an alternative company. Still waiting on quote/invoice & refund almost a week later.
Unprepared to run commercial accounts. Does not work professionally. Charge amounts out of the blue. Does not send invoices and technical informs does not explain properly what the problem is. Amateur company and not reliable at all, specially for commercial business.
refused to come and exam 3 systems at once i guess he got scared from the challenge was too big for him..

Downtown heating and air came out on 7/1/20 because my house would not cool below 78. AC system is less then two years old and I was told by a tech the outside condenser coil had a leak. He Replaced Freon and supposedly was going to have the part ordered. I never got a invoice for work performed (on 7/1/20) and called/emailed several times requesting this to no avail. Service call, "diagnoses of leak" and Freon added cost me $350. On 7/7/20 after calling and inquiring several times I finally received a answer stating that they were having issues ordering warranty parts through the manufacture. I was sent an estimate for almost $750 to replace the condenser coil and add Freon. The system is still under warranty and this was labor alone. It felt sketchy so I got a second opinion. This second company told and showed me that the system was actually leaking from the copper line that went underground coming from the air handler. This second company diagnosed the leak rather easily by pulling off the return grille cover inside and sticking a meter in the ground where the copper line went (this wasn't even attempted or checked by downtown heating and air). Unfortunately when I had the system replaced I was never given the option to replace the copper line or I could have avoided this mess all together. The Copper line was replaced by the second company and ac blows ice cold again. Pretty disturbing that I would have paid downtown heating and air almost $750 to replace a condenser coil only to find out that was not where the leak was coming from and that I still had to pay to have the copper line replaced to actually fix the issue. I contacted downtown heating and air based on their perfect reviews just FYI. Do your research and get a second or third opinion and hopefully it will save you money. Unlike me whose out $350 that could have gone towards the actual repair of the problem.
I am a two-time customer of Downtown Air and Heat. First time I used them close to two years ago; Downtown Air and Heat did an excellent job for my family and I at a reasonable price and timely manner. Melvin was the technician for us that day and had great customer service. SO - I thought I would give them another opportunity while out on business travel and wife alerted me that we had an issue with our air conditioning -- when it was in the mid-to-upper 90's in mid-August. After Melvin paid us a visit, we found out that our air handling unit blower motor went out. We were originally quoted $546 for a repair/replace by Keegan, but after a mistake was made the quote was updated to $1,255. I was super-nice to Keegan "who made the error" and told him that I'd like to move forward since I felt he was being genuine and honest. Abraham came the next day to replace the motor. At this time, we were told the price was increasing to $2,300 because our unit required the factory motor, but discounted it to $1,900 (very charitable of them) since they made a 2nd consecutive mistake on pricing. I made a call asking to speak to a Manager and got in touch with Shawn (the owner) and let him know about my frustrations with how our job was being handled. To summarize, I found out they were buying the motor for $700 and attempting to charge me $1,600 in labor for a job that would take 15-60 minutes. Needless to say I got a quote from a competitor that was $700 cheaper and a day faster... Do better than this Downtown Air and Heat... Shame on you!!! STAY AWAY from this company and go elsewhere -- Shawn's business practices are questionable (being nicer than what I really want to say).

My technician that came out helped identify the problem but their solution was not something I would ever want to happen to anyone else in my position. A new technician came out to remove equipment and just CUT THEH WIRE AT THE THERMOSTAT & BLEW THE FUSE. Didn't even turn off the break to save the fuse in the air handler! This place is shady do yourself a favor look to an alternative company. Still waiting on quote/invoice & refund almost a week later.
Sean, if you have a service fee that you feel is appropriate, then a client should be informed prior to any visit to the home. 1.5 hours on GPS? Perhaps time parked in the car- removing the ladder and replacing and calling you. At NO pining was a technician in my home 1.5 hours. You did not agree to move a service fee to repairs. No call from you or anyone else at your company. Sorry, that's an outright lie. I called in the morning and the kind person answering the phone hadn't ordered it and wasn't sure they were open. Clearly my honest review upset you. Do better from start to finish. That's my best advice. I have a home camera that can verify my story. Your competition knew nothing of you. I did. He's actually very reputable and from start to finish 1.5 hours (again- home camera!!) Do better. De better for your customers and yourself in. I hope everyone who reads sees the back and forth and ridiculous attempt with a part number. Already have y It, yours is off by one and there are several laces to price it up.
I had an appointment set for 2-4 pm yesterday. Nobody showed up, and I didn't receive a phone call or email notification that this Company wasn't able to make the appointment. I responded to my appointment confirmation email to let them know that there was no need to come to my house since they can't honor their commitments. Lo and behold, one their Techs knocks on my door today and acts like he didn't know the appointment was cancelled. Unfortunately, because there is more demand that supply for A/C repairs, these are the types of games they can play. They obviously overbook, and if they end up selling an A/C unit instead of just a repair, the rest of the Techs schedule gets kicked down the road.
Unfortunately this business has recently been sleeping on their laurels. It seems they recently started cutting back on customer service. I called them and talked to Chris because my AC stopped working, who assured me someone would give me a call within 2 hours, but 3 hours went by. Upon calling again, another employee told me I had to wait until Monday because they don't work after hours. Very disappointing to see this business go down like this
Drivers are reckless, one almost ran me off the road as I was in the turn lane to make a right hand turn and he came up in the turn lane to make a left hand turn, and made a right hand turn, almost hitting me and another car, driving in the grass to miss us, then flooring it to run a red light up ahead. That kind of driving shows a lot of immaturity as a tech.
What a joke. They took my name and number and said they would call me back in a minute. Never heard back from them. Very unprofessional.
I'm suspicious of Downtown Air and Heat! They list certain services in their online profile everywhere (google, yelp, etc.) and also on their website but when you call about that service that they list everywhere including their own website, they get your information then flat out refuse to do the service. Are they just collecting people's information?! Not to mention the one who answers the phone doesn't know anything at all (not even basic things) and has to refer to their "technician". What's up with refusing to do the service that you yourself said you would do? Shady business!
This one tech is definitely not a people person. He clearly has issues with people. Maybe he thought the profession would allow him to do his own thing and not have to deal with people. But in this world you cannot avoid it. He seems like a pressure cooker ready to blow his top any second. I definitely get creepy vibes around that guy. He thinks giving dirty looks is an acceptable substitute for speaking his mind. But he might as well speak his mind since he body language and dirty looks belie his true attitude. As one other poster mentioned, I also chose them based on Yelp reviews. And like that poster, I also found that yelp can be deceiving. I overestimated them based on the "Smoke and Mirrors" facade of Yelp.

Update - 18 Mar 2024 Still very impressed with Downtown Air. Service has been exceptional. No issues with system; it works very well and the house is nice and comfortable. Service calls for preventative maintenance have been professional and thorough. The tech was here for the better part of an hour checking everything. Answered all my question. Highly recommend. Original Review Shawn and his team did a simply awesome job and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They listened to me and the system they identified was a great fit for my needs. They went out of their way to get the outdoor unit since it was in short supply. The back office keep things organized and on track. Shawn and the installation team handled my questions with patience and welcomed my general nosiness about how the system is installed. I am a fastidious engineer by trade and that did not appear to phase them at all. I insisted my return duct work was too small but Shawn told me to hold my horses and let’s see how the unit performs once installed before we start talking about scheduling more work. It was good advice; no point in doing unnecessary work. They installed the unit and noted that the static pressure was indeed too high. Shawn assessed the situation and made a plan based on the the facts on the ground and gave me a fair quote on increasing the size of my return duct work. Work was performed promptly and to the high standard that Shawn sets for his business. Shawn even worked with me to make sure that all installation costs, to include the duct work were included in the zero percent financing over 18 months program I signed up for. It was not all smooth sailing; there were issues with the thermostat. The LED screen and CPU ran hot which cause wonky temperature reads. They replaced it at no cost but the second was no better. Finally, they installed a Trane external wired thermometer (it’s a small plastic box about the size of a box of matches) 3 inches beside the control thermostat and that resolves the problem. Poor design on Tranes part. LEDs, CPUs and WIFI controllers generate heat. They should have compensated for that. I painted the box the same color as the wall and it blends in. The system is dead accurate now. Finally, the county inspector said it was some of the best work he had seen. He spent a lot of time looking it over and noted the attention to detail and how well wiring and tubing was routed. His only “note” was there were some areas around the ceiling that could have used some more mastic but that was just if he needed to complain; he noted that they sealed the other side with insulation spray foam so it was not a real problem. The mastic was a second layer of defense from heat escaping the attic. He even commented on how they taped off the coffin so when they applied the mastic and removed the tape so, it would form clean lines. ‘Nobody does that.” He was impressed. I’ve had the unit for the better part of four months and I can honestly say I am very happy with the work and would recommend Downtown Air to anyone. I got 6 quotes and they were right in the middle on price but top of the list in terms of responsiveness and just being organized. Even with the additional duct work they were on par with others that had priced increasing the size of the return in their quote.
