Update - 18 Mar 2024 Still very impressed with Downtown Air. Service has been exceptional. No issues with system; it works very well and the house is nice and comfortable. Service calls for preventative maintenance have been professional and thorough. The tech was here for the better part of an hour checking everything. Answered all my question. Highly recommend. Original Review Shawn and his team did a simply awesome job and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They listened to me and the system they identified was a great fit for my needs. They went out of their way to get the outdoor unit since it was in short supply. The back office keep things organized and on track. Shawn and the installation team handled my questions with patience and welcomed my general nosiness about how the system is installed. I am a fastidious engineer by trade and that did not appear to phase them at all. I insisted my return duct work was too small but Shawn told me to hold my horses and let’s see how the unit performs once installed before we start talking about scheduling more work. It was good advice; no point in doing unnecessary work. They installed the unit and noted that the static pressure was indeed too high. Shawn assessed the situation and made a plan based on the the facts on the ground and gave me a fair quote on increasing the size of my return duct work. Work was performed promptly and to the high standard that Shawn sets for his business. Shawn even worked with me to make sure that all installation costs, to include the duct work were included in the zero percent financing over 18 months program I signed up for. It was not all smooth sailing; there were issues with the thermostat. The LED screen and CPU ran hot which cause wonky temperature reads. They replaced it at no cost but the second was no better. Finally, they installed a Trane external wired thermometer (it’s a small plastic box about the size of a box of matches) 3 inches beside the control thermostat and that resolves the problem. Poor design on Tranes part. LEDs, CPUs and WIFI controllers generate heat. They should have compensated for that. I painted the box the same color as the wall and it blends in. The system is dead accurate now. Finally, the county inspector said it was some of the best work he had seen. He spent a lot of time looking it over and noted the attention to detail and how well wiring and tubing was routed. His only “note” was there were some areas around the ceiling that could have used some more mastic but that was just if he needed to complain; he noted that they sealed the other side with insulation spray foam so it was not a real problem. The mastic was a second layer of defense from heat escaping the attic. He even commented on how they taped off the coffin so when they applied the mastic and removed the tape so, it would form clean lines. ‘Nobody does that.” He was impressed. I’ve had the unit for the better part of four months and I can honestly say I am very happy with the work and would recommend Downtown Air to anyone. I got 6 quotes and they were right in the middle on price but top of the list in terms of responsiveness and just being organized. Even with the additional duct work they were on par with others that had priced increasing the size of the return in their quote.

5 stars. Michael I. with Downtown Air and Heat was prompt, professional, and very thorough. They were able to accommodate an emergency call and come out on Sunday, Mother’s Day, which I really appreciated. Even with it being a Sunday and a holiday, the price was very reasonable and they did not overcharge. Michael spent about three hours diagnosing my system and found issues that others had missed, including a faulty overheating damper motor, backwards heater wiring, and improper duct sizing from a previous installation that caused major airflow imbalance. He explained everything clearly, fixed the immediate damper issue, and focused on proper diagnosis instead of trying to oversell. I highly recommend Michael I. and Downtown Air and Heat to anyone who wants a company that responds quickly, diagnoses problems correctly, and treats customers fairly. I was very impressed with both Michael’s work and the company’s overall response.

After a frustrating experience with Del-Air, I reached out to Downtown Air—and I’m so glad I did. From the first phone call, the receptionist was friendly and helpful, and quickly scheduled a technician to come out and verify the issue previously diagnosed. Danny arrived right on time, confirmed the problem, and got the part ordered right away. The part was under warranty, and about a week later, it arrived and Melvin and Tony completed the replacement efficiently and professionally. The unit is now running smoothly, and I couldn’t be happier with the entire service team. Best of all, they completed the repair for half the labor cost quoted by their competitor. Professional, responsive, and honest—highly recommend Downtown Air!

excellent experience again . This is our third time using this company since we purchased our new home. The service has been absolutely fabulous. I would not use any other company as long as these guys are around. My technician Melvin took care of us once again. He also gives me a class every time and explains what’s going on with our unit. The technician and the company don’t just find a versus give you a bill Didn’t leave. They explained exactly what The fix, Possibly what caused it and even how to prevent , Do not hesitate to contact this company and ask for the technician, Mr Melvin.

From the moment I called Downtown Air and Heat, to schedule my first service visit, their customer service was prompt, friendly, and professional. The technician (Daniel) who came out was incredibly knowledgeable and courteous making sure everything was explained clearly. What really impressed me was their commitment to follow through—not just with the initial service, but with the six-month inspection as well. Most companies disappear after the contract is signed. That kind of follow-up is rare and shows they truly care about long-term customer satisfaction. Highly recommend!

We have had really great experience with Downtown Our system has a dehumidifier in parallel with our a/c unit. The dehumidifier was failing and Downtown was able to tshoot it and get a replacement unit under warranty. I’m so glad that we found them- We’ve had other companies try to address the issue prior, and none of them were able to sort it. Downtown did! We had two amazing techs that were just awesome: Daniel and Melvin We recommend Downtown - they are great!

Made appt to get a quote on some AC duct repair/replacement. Daniel came at on time and I had the estimate/quote later that day. I called about a week later to make an appt to have the work done. Again, on time arrival and completed the job in the time that was estimated. Daniel and Michael did the work, seemed to work very well together and I am happy with the resulting duct work. Easy to work with, on time appointments, and a fair price for the work.

Bought a new Trane system from Downtown Air June 2024. I was concerned about the cooling at first. A technician came right out and ran diagnostics, made a couple of adjustments and all was well. Have had annual service calls since then including one today. System is great and the technician, Danny, could not have been more helpful. My experience is that Downtown Air does what it promises and stands behind it.

Michael was great and informative. Even though there was nothing we could do to replace the motor since ours was very old. He still took the time to walk me through the whole process of the HVAC system and how they work and just let me ask a bunch of questions. Thanks for taking the time to explain things in detail and giving me a chance to feel more comfortable about making the choice to get a new unit.

Been using them and had their service plan for several years. Called in the evening last night and was able to get service today. Office answers quickly with an actual person. Technician Danny friendly and capable. Explained what went wrong so even I could understand it plus showed me part that went bad both before removing it and afterwards.

We reroofed this summer and had to replace our rooftop AC Heat Pump unit. Downtown Air gave a competitive bid and I was impressed by their planning, coordination with the roofing company and execution in completing the project. Sean, Danny, Michael and their teammates are excellent. And our OUC bill is down $32.00 from last August!

Downtown Air and Heat (DA&H) came out on time and performed a diagnosis for $69 minor service call ($99 for advanced diagnosis - which my unit required) to find a refrigerant leak somewhere in the unit. They were thinking evaporator coil but needed a leak test performed ($96) and the system required 7 lbs of R-410A refrigerant ($273) in order to perform the leak test since the system needed to be pressurized enough to perform the test. A leak was found in the suction line near the condenser, but they could not fix it that day. They advised that they would send me a quote to fix the leak, add a filter dryer, and 3 lbs of R-410A ($439). Got a 2nd opinion from another A/C company and they advised that was a very good quote. I had them come out over a week later to fix the leak based on the quote since I was out of town for a week. After fixing the suction line there were bubbles coming from the pipe that they pull the copper lines through (it had been raining and the area was flooded). They did not know if it was still the suction line or the liquid line, so they had to do some additional diagnosis. They found that it was the liquid line, but not in an accessible area to fix the leak in the copper. They would need to install a new liquid line. Though they only charged me an additional ($462) which apparently was reduced due to them already being out, that they performed the leak test before and did not locate the 2nd leak, as well as the liquid line not being part of the original quote. They were at my house (a team of 2) from ~9:30 am - 4:00 pm, but got the job done and my system is cooling as it should. Hopefully, I can get two or three more years from the system. The work is guaranteed for 1 year as well. DA&H has earned my future business which may include installation within the next few years of a 3-ton system (I think my current system is on the low end for my house) and perhaps PM for my current system. ***Additional details that are not directly part of the DA&H review (since this review is rather lengthy): I have an 11-year old 2.5 Lennox Central Air Conditioning unit and until this year was able to keep my home at 77 degrees. This year it could not keep cool during the day, so in May I had Del-Air come to perform a PM on the unit. A PM had not been performed in 4 years and I was told the condenser coils had lint covering one side of the unit. They cleaned the coils, though advised that the air was coming off the evaporator coil at about 76 degrees, so more R-410A may need to be added as well. It was an 11-year-old system, so was thinking there was minor leakage over all the years, but the air was still cool coming out of the system. After a couple of weeks, it started to have issues during the day again. I was quoted by Del-Air $79 for 1st pound, then $69 per pound after of R-410A. I looked over the internet and found out that the average cost is $4.80 per pound for just the refrigerant (though to purchase the refrigerant requires certification). It is kind of a gambit since R-410A is less impacting to the environment than the other older forms of A/C refrigerant, but you must be certified to add R-410A. Therefore, I decided to go with the most highly-rated local A/C repair company - DA&H. Their quote of refrigerant is $39 per lb, but do not know if that changes if no additional work is performed.

Update: After writing this review Shawn reached out to me. He was extremely apologetic and took the time to explain to me what he believed happened to the compressor. He believes if Abel hung out a little bit longer he would've noticed that the air compressor wasn't shot, that it was just a freak occurrence with the system and said he's making changes on their website in regards to the contact form. Shawn is refunding me the $99 service call fee and said if I need them to come out again they'll waive the service fee. Not a lot of companies would take the time to reach out and not only did Shawn reach out, he went into detail about what happened in a way I could understand. I could tell he was being sincere and just wanted to make things right. I feel confident in using this company in the future for any AC needs. Also, I couldn't remember the first technicians name who was super helpful, but Shawn told me his name is Melvin. Downtown Air and Heat had come out 9 months prior and that's the only reason I'm giving them two stars. The technician who came out was honest and said the issue was a dirty vent. He informed me to pour one cup of vinegar followed by one cup of water down the drain once a month, even giving me his cell phone number to call for any issues. The other day, I called because my AC unit stopped working after opening my windows for a couple hours. No one answered, but I received a call back right away and explained the issue. I was told it was just a coincidence that it went out due to my windows being open and that couldn't be the reason why, but they could have someone out the same day. I explained it was my graduation from UCF and I had appointments and may not be home, but that my parents would be. He was super nice, even with the few follow up calls I made. Around 3pm Abel arrived to my house at the same time I was pulling up. He seemed extremely friendly. He immediately told me he knew what the issue was, which was the sensor but he needed to find out what tripped it to make it stop working. A while later he told me there was bad news. My air compressor was out. He said it is very expensive to replace and that he would provide me with a quote to not only replace the air compressor but also three separate quotes to replace the whole unit, which is what he recommended. He said he had two more calls after mine, but would send the quotes after and collected $99 from me for a service fee. He told me there was no reason to keep my unit on because the compressor was shot. 4hrs after he left I had not received a quote so I filled out the contact form on their website because it was after hours and no one answered the phone. I have still yet to hear back from anyone. I arrived home after my graduation to a crisp 70 degree house. The same house Abel told me the air would not work in until I replaced the compressor or installed a whole new unit. My AC is still going strong and I haven't received a quote from Abel nor a response from the contact form I filled out. I chose this company 9 months ago because of Yelp reviews. I would have been out several if not more thousands of dollars had I listened to Abel. Get a second, heck even a third opinion before trusting this company.

Had a problem with my A/C in South Orlando, so I went onto their site and requested a contact. I hadn't heard back from them by the next day (10/20/22), so I gave them a call. Seems like my email got lost in their spam filters. (Unfortunate, but it happens.) They got me connected with someone who was able to come out within a few hours and take a look at things. He let me know when he was on his way, and gave me an ETA, which was accurate. He was extremely kind and personable, correctly diagnosed my broken contactor outside quickly, and was able to replace the broken part immediately with one he had in the van. He was in and out before I knew it. Standard Diagnostic Call was $129. 2 pole 40 amp contactor was $238. Total was $367. While I'm not in love with that bill, it certainly could have been much worse, plus I had no idea what I was doing, so figure I'm paying for the expertise. Long of the short, I'm absolutely calling them next time I've got an HVAC problem. Thanks, Downtown Air!!

I really have a two-part review, but the reason for my poor rating is how things ended. I will try to be brief. The first part, everything was great. I got someone to come out, the rate was reasonable for 'diagnostics' compared to other companies, and the tech who came out was very friendly. He looked at my problem and the work I had done and told me I was "90% there," that if i just kept going and in the location he showed me, it would be fixed. I could do that or have him do it for another $147. I chose to try myself and pay just the diagnostic/service call fee. This was around 4 pm. Part two starts here: I could not get the AC to work. I called back to the tech and he told me to call the office and ask to reschedule someone to come out, that I wouldnt have to pay the service fee again, just the cost of the repair. So I called back to the office, got someone on the phone, had them rescheduled for between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. No one came. No one answered the office phone when I called back. The tech did not answer his call when I called back. So we slept the night in the heat. I called Downtown Air first thing this morning, got the receptionist. She said there was a big job today and she would have to check if they could get someone out. Would call me in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, no call so I called back. When I called, I went through this phone system that says 'your call may be recorded' and then was sent to a message that said that the line didnt work. So I called back again. This time, same message but "press 1" and instead of her picking up, the manager I guess picked up. He told me that they were not coming back out today. That I had tried to offer his technician to come to my house off the books and that he called me last night and left a message that they would not be coming back. Neither of these are true. If I wanted to try to hire his tech, why would I have called the office, spoken to someone and then left messages when the person they scheduled never showed up? In the course of our conversation, I was admittedly upset and tried to tell my story. The manager said he 'didnt really have time for this' and that he was 'not going to take my word over his technicians.' All in all, it's one thing to have a mix up or have things not go right. I called back this morning because I had hoped to rectify it and get someone out. I was asking for no favors, just someone to come fix the job and I would pay them. I was told that they were not sending someone out and that they would refund what I spent yesterday (I have not received that refund yet). But to call into question the honesty of the customer before even listening to what the customer has to say, and then refusing service and telling the customer that you don't believe them is totally unacceptable and that is why I give this rating.

This company is not organized at all and I suggest using another company for you AC needs. My experience with this company was not good. My technician that came out helped identify the problem but their solution was not something I would ever want to happen to anyone else in my position. D A & H was my second quote to get this job done. When my tech came out I told them exactly what the problem was and their diagnostic check was hours. I had a bad power wire and a faulty Nest Thermostat. They could not fix the problem that night so they gave me the option to use one of their thermostats and run a temporary wire in the house for the time being so they could finish the project at a later date. Their tech told me a quote and I agreed for one amount to do the work. He said what I paid in being would be deducted from grand total of the complete work. The next day I was called to finish the project but at this point, I was given a totally different price than what the technician and I agreed upon to finish the work. This is unprofessional and not fair. If I didn't agree to the temp wire and thermostat installed nothing would have got correct by D A&H that night and still would have had no AC. I told them to remove the temp. thermostat that we agreed that I would rent temporarily until I purchased a new thermostat. A new technician came out to remove equipment and just CUT THE WIRE AT THE THERMOSTAT & BLEW THE FUSE. Didn't even turn off the break to save the fuse in the air handler! This place is shady do yourself a favor look to an alternative company. Still waiting on quote/invoice & refund almost a week later.

Downtown heating and air came out on 7/1/20 because my house would not cool below 78. AC system is less then two years old and I was told by a tech the outside condenser coil had a leak. He Replaced Freon and supposedly was going to have the part ordered. I never got a invoice for work performed (on 7/1/20) and called/emailed several times requesting this to no avail. Service call, "diagnoses of leak" and Freon added cost me $350. On 7/7/20 after calling and inquiring several times I finally received a answer stating that they were having issues ordering warranty parts through the manufacture. I was sent an estimate for almost $750 to replace the condenser coil and add Freon. The system is still under warranty and this was labor alone. It felt sketchy so I got a second opinion. This second company told and showed me that the system was actually leaking from the copper line that went underground coming from the air handler. This second company diagnosed the leak rather easily by pulling off the return grille cover inside and sticking a meter in the ground where the copper line went (this wasn't even attempted or checked by downtown heating and air). Unfortunately when I had the system replaced I was never given the option to replace the copper line or I could have avoided this mess all together. The Copper line was replaced by the second company and ac blows ice cold again. Pretty disturbing that I would have paid downtown heating and air almost $750 to replace a condenser coil only to find out that was not where the leak was coming from and that I still had to pay to have the copper line replaced to actually fix the issue. I contacted downtown heating and air based on their perfect reviews just FYI. Do your research and get a second or third opinion and hopefully it will save you money. Unlike me whose out $350 that could have gone towards the actual repair of the problem.

I am a two-time customer of Downtown Air and Heat. First time I used them close to two years ago; Downtown Air and Heat did an excellent job for my family and I at a reasonable price and timely manner. Melvin was the technician for us that day and had great customer service. SO - I thought I would give them another opportunity while out on business travel and wife alerted me that we had an issue with our air conditioning -- when it was in the mid-to-upper 90's in mid-August. After Melvin paid us a visit, we found out that our air handling unit blower motor went out. We were originally quoted $546 for a repair/replace by Keegan, but after a mistake was made the quote was updated to $1,255. I was super-nice to Keegan "who made the error" and told him that I'd like to move forward since I felt he was being genuine and honest. Abraham came the next day to replace the motor. At this time, we were told the price was increasing to $2,300 because our unit required the factory motor, but discounted it to $1,900 (very charitable of them) since they made a 2nd consecutive mistake on pricing. I made a call asking to speak to a Manager and got in touch with Shawn (the owner) and let him know about my frustrations with how our job was being handled. To summarize, I found out they were buying the motor for $700 and attempting to charge me $1,600 in labor for a job that would take 15-60 minutes. Needless to say I got a quote from a competitor that was $700 cheaper and a day faster... Do better than this Downtown Air and Heat... Shame on you!!! STAY AWAY from this company and go elsewhere -- Shawn's business practices are questionable (being nicer than what I really want to say).

Sean, if you have a service fee that you feel is appropriate, then a client should be informed prior to any visit to the home. 1.5 hours on GPS? Perhaps time parked in the car- removing the ladder and replacing and calling you. At NO pining was a technician in my home 1.5 hours. You did not agree to move a service fee to repairs. No call from you or anyone else at your company. Sorry, that's an outright lie. I called in the morning and the kind person answering the phone hadn't ordered it and wasn't sure they were open. Clearly my honest review upset you. Do better from start to finish. That's my best advice. I have a home camera that can verify my story. Your competition knew nothing of you. I did. He's actually very reputable and from start to finish 1.5 hours (again- home camera!!) Do better. De better for your customers and yourself in. I hope everyone who reads sees the back and forth and ridiculous attempt with a part number. Already have y It, yours is off by one and there are several laces to price it up.

I had an appointment set for 2-4 pm yesterday. Nobody showed up, and I didn't receive a phone call or email notification that this Company wasn't able to make the appointment. I responded to my appointment confirmation email to let them know that there was no need to come to my house since they can't honor their commitments. Lo and behold, one their Techs knocks on my door today and acts like he didn't know the appointment was cancelled. Unfortunately, because there is more demand that supply for A/C repairs, these are the types of games they can play. They obviously overbook, and if they end up selling an A/C unit instead of just a repair, the rest of the Techs schedule gets kicked down the road.

Unfortunately this business has recently been sleeping on their laurels. It seems they recently started cutting back on customer service. I called them and talked to Chris because my AC stopped working, who assured me someone would give me a call within 2 hours, but 3 hours went by. Upon calling again, another employee told me I had to wait until Monday because they don't work after hours. Very disappointing to see this business go down like this

Drivers are reckless, one almost ran me off the road as I was in the turn lane to make a right hand turn and he came up in the turn lane to make a left hand turn, and made a right hand turn, almost hitting me and another car, driving in the grass to miss us, then flooring it to run a red light up ahead. That kind of driving shows a lot of immaturity as a tech.

What a joke. They took my name and number and said they would call me back in a minute. Never heard back from them. Very unprofessional.

I'm suspicious of Downtown Air and Heat! They list certain services in their online profile everywhere (google, yelp, etc.) and also on their website but when you call about that service that they list everywhere including their own website, they get your information then flat out refuse to do the service. Are they just collecting people's information?! Not to mention the one who answers the phone doesn't know anything at all (not even basic things) and has to refer to their "technician". What's up with refusing to do the service that you yourself said you would do? Shady business!

This one tech is definitely not a people person. He clearly has issues with people. Maybe he thought the profession would allow him to do his own thing and not have to deal with people. But in this world you cannot avoid it. He seems like a pressure cooker ready to blow his top any second. I definitely get creepy vibes around that guy. He thinks giving dirty looks is an acceptable substitute for speaking his mind. But he might as well speak his mind since he body language and dirty looks belie his true attitude. As one other poster mentioned, I also chose them based on Yelp reviews. And like that poster, I also found that yelp can be deceiving. I overestimated them based on the "Smoke and Mirrors" facade of Yelp.
