We are beyond happy with our new air conditioner. The workers talk to us through every stage and explain to us exactly what to expect and let us know what our warranty covers. The price was extremely lower than many other air-conditioning companies. We are completely satisfied. Thank you for your service and your honesty
Kevin was truly amazing! He was on time, professional and super efficient. He fixed my ac unit and had it up and running super quickly! I’m very impressed with him, his knowledge and his honesty when communicating the issue with my ac unit. Thank you Kevin!! It was a great pleasure to meet you!! Mrs. Josann Czako
The Homeowner's Association where I work has a maintenance agreement with Ellsworth Heating & Cooling to service our 2 AC units. Our service technician, Aaron, is always polite, thorough, and eager to please. It is always a pleasure to work with Aaron and with this company.
Kevin did a great job for me. He took care of the problem, explained what he did and cleaned up. I had let my maintainace agreement lapse and he helped me sign up for a new one. I was very pleased with his work, especially since this was on a weekend.
Ellsworth heating and cooling is the best around, I know because I had a few bad ones. They are very knowledgeable and they go out of their way to fit you in their schedule. They seem to be a very honest and reliable company with great prices.
Kevin Edison and companion were very polite and did a timely installation including clean up. Kevin quickly answered any questions I posed. I've lived in this area going on 20 years and have always used Ellsworth.
The AC died in Florida, not good. Ellsworth was out on the same day I called. They got the parts in within a day and have us up running. Been with them over15 years, no reason to change. Very satisfied!
We needed our A/C fixed when it broke down Saturday night and they were there first thing the next morning. They had it fixed within an hour of their arrival. Definitely left a good feeling.
They sent Kevin over on Presidents day, the same day we called. He really knows his craft. Got to the problem immediately and we are back in the cool. Very happy they are in our area.
Aaron was on-time, very personable, and got the job done quickly. He explained all aspects of the job as he was worked. I am happy with my relationship with Ellsworth company.
Very friendly but knowledgeable tech. Walked me through the process and gave me a report of findings. Showed me all concerns and corrected them. Vry easy to understand.
All the techs at Ellsworth always do a great job. We recommend them to everyone who needs Air conditioning services! This service was included with our new unit.
Called on a Sunday evening after coming home to a hot house. Within an hour someone was here and fixed my ac unit at a Very reasonable cost. Thank you !!!
Ellsworth is very reliable, always there when you need them. Aaron is great. Two years in a row now servicing two different homes. Very responsive.
Isadoro provided very professional service and installed a smart thermostat. He also gave us helpful tips for ongoing maintenance on our unit.
When we need future service we are going to request Aaron. He is very pleasant & good at his job. Definitely a 5 star. Happy new year.
Aaron was truly professional, showed my many small things to conserve energy. There’s nothing like a veteran of the industry.
Aaron is knowledgeable, efficient, and gets the job done with expertise! I rely on his workmanship 2x year
Aaron did an excellent job in performing pour semi annual inspection and cleaning of our system!
I've depended on Ellsworth for almost 10 years and I thought that this would be the first time they let me down...but I was very wrong. I called them late in the day because my ac stopped cooling our house and Kevin Edison arrived the following morning at 8:30. Kevin has been to my house a couple times before and he has proven to be a great technician and a terrific diagnostician. He told me that the coils in our compressor were leaking badly. He showed me the area of the leak and told me that it would take 5 to 10 business days for a new coil to arrive from the manufacturer. After almost a week I was told that the part was on backorder and would take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. I was one cranky old man at that point. The secretary I was speaking with put the manager, Shane, on the phone and I proceeded to tell him how unhappy I was. He told me that he would do everything he could to expedite the arrival of the coils. And he did just that. A few days later the parts arrived and the following day after, Jose, another tech came to do the install. This young man was very professional and did a fantastic job. He was extremely knowledgeable and a really nice guy. He charged and restarted the system and stayed long enough to ensure that everything was running properly and that there were no issues. We are more than happy with the repair and very grateful to Shane and everyone at Ellsworth for a job well done - and for getting it done sooner than we thought. I would not hesitate to recommend Ellsworth to anyone needing a new system, or any kind of repair. Thank you again. Bob S.
I can't say enough about how impressed I was with Ellsworth. Recently, my AC unit developed a leak in the condenser coil. I had a number of estimates from other companies and all of them suggested that the entire system be replaced. I couldn't even get a estimate to just replace the coil. I contacted Ellsworth. Will Barnes and his team came by the next day. Will gave me a several options. Everything from replacing the coil to a new system. Will also went over ways I could improve our existing system without costing an arm and a leg. In the end, we went with replacing the coil, having some duct work done and saving a ton of money. Because of their honesty and professionalism, choosing Ellsworth was an easy decision. They now have a customer for life!
I recently had a service call on a Sunday , it was a simple matter of adjusting the Humidistat , the service man came realized the problem and was gone in about 5 min. To the tune of $119. Under the service plan we have with them , they do a fine job when they service our unit. They are efficient and thorough but, I thought this was a lot considering he was here for such s short time , I let my feelings be known and they adjusted the fee. I appreciate this gesture and realize they truly care about their customers ,
So the actual company itself i wouldn’t say is terrible however their employees… DISGUSTING i have been without ac for two day with a 3 year old & newborn , I actually have a private landlord or seeker help from this company , i called my landlord at 10:30 am when the scheduled time for ac guy to come out was 10 am .. man landlord called & left voicemails with no response back … i finally get a know on the door think g it was the ac guy but it was actually a family member who had a paper in her hand that said “Sorry we missed you” i was completely shocked & baffled as i was sitting right in my living room waiting since 9 am for this guy to show up .. i have two entries to my house a front door & a porch door … JOSE the employee decided to knock twice on my porch door per his words & leave & didn’t even bother to atleast knock on my front door Jose said he was not going to go above & beyond & accommodate me when he had other customers to attend to & that he felt no need to knock on my actual front door so i call the number on the paper he left spoke with a very nice lady who took a message to then get a call from Jose 10 minutes later and no was DISGUSTING he was carless ,rude & his customer service was terrible .. when i told him i have two doors why would he knock on a porch door anyways & that there was no way he knocked because even so i would have 10000% heard that door mind you we live in Florida my house is currently 90 degrees my porch is filled with toys so he knew kids were here Jose made no attempt in knowing on my front door he knocked twice on the porch door & just left never called the number on file to atleast say he was outside & said he had other clients & was not going to do anything extra to help me what’s crazy is Jose didn’t even knock on my actual front door once i told him i was going to file a complaint he got upset & told me “Now I’m not coming find someone else” & hung up on me i called my landlord to inform him & they were nasty to my landlord as well & my landlord was shocked that no phone was made to myself or him & that he did not bother to make an effort to knock on my front door knowing the Florida heat & knowing there are kids here … disgusting Jose needs to be fired he does not know how to speak to customers & he does not care for the customers this is just a job for him & he was just mad that he had to come out on a weekend is what it seems to me . I will be seeking help from higher up because i will not stop complaint until something is done as Jose left me & my newborn plus autistic son in a house of 90 degrees because he was being lazy & just carless !
BEWARE! I got a postcard in the mail stating it was time to schedule my routine maintenance for my air conditioner. I have a contract for routine maintenance with another company for over two years. I called when I received the postcard to schedule my routine maintenance. The company at that time did not tell me they’d be a charge. The Company came out did the routine maintenance and then charged me $119. I was confused because my air conditioning company that I have a contract with doesn’t charge me per visit. I used Ellsworth Heating And Cooling over two years ago. They should not have sent me a reminder card to schedule my routine maintenance. Not only that they should’ve told me upfront how much it was gonna cost. My daughter even called the company to try to make this right because I really feel like I was taking advantage of. The Company did not care at all. They said they sent cards out to everyone and anybody. I don’t believe you should send a reminder to set up your routine maintenance if you do not have a contract with that company. The company was rude and unwilling to work with me to make this right. My mom is 82 years old and this company took advantage of her! The postcard literally says you due this month!!!
They came highly recommend by a few people. Have major leaking in my attic. They came out said that it was a major job and they had to work on a quote. This was thee weeks ago. Been trying to contact them with no luck this past week. Insurance and a mold removal company also involved. They would not work with the mold company. Asked while they were still communicating if they really wanted the job and they said they did. I was forwarding the message from he mold removal company to keep them in the loop and nothing. If they just told me from the beginning they didn’t want the job or didn’t work with mold removal companies this wouldn’t have set me back two weeks with more damage happening. I think they are very unprofessional and even though my friend have had good luck with them I have not.
Our ac unit is not cooling and I was recommended this company. I called and I was met with a lady with a heavy Spanish accent. (Did not get a name, however I’m Hispanic so I know she’s a Spanish speaker).it was TERRIBLE customer service from beginning to our very abrupt end when she slammed the phone on me and hung up on me in the middle of my request for service. She did not want to help me with setting up an appointment, she was rude and short and she sounded annoyed from her first word and all I needed was some help. Just on our exchange alone, I wouldn’t want to go with this company if the people employed here treat potential clients the way she did. Today you lost a potential client. I’ll take my business and my money elsewhere. Definitely not Ellsworth. 0/10
Spent 1200 to fix my AC about 3-4 weeks ago. I Felt I was overcharged, but my AC was working it was extremely hot. I was just happy to have air conditioning. about two weeks later, the thermostat quit working and my AC stopped blowing. I contacted Ellsworth heating and cooling to come back out. They try to charge me a $100 service fee, did absolutely nothing, and told me they would be back after they talked to the boss about pricing that I already paid to have it fixed, I’m not sure what the deal is with this company but I would really appreciate some type of communication back. My AC is still out all week later and I have no information from this company or owner business.
Serviceman. Out . Did repair and check and annual checkup Paid 328 for service 1lb refrigerant and annual program.. 8 days later no air. Technition out - no refrigerant all leaked out from hole in copper piping. Repair and refrigerant. Approximately 700. No way . What about inspection? And paid repair- either missed the real problem or caused it.
No follow up from the office. Our compressor died on Saturday- we were told the office would call us and it's been 3 days with no cooling system. Keven was great, however we're not so sure about the office. A phone call would have been nice to let us know what's happening. It's 89 degrees in our house.
They over charged unit when the issue was the coils. Wanted to sell new unit chuck? Name of kept on showing up and charging 2 service calls out over 400 dollars and never mentioned coil which was covered under warranty. Why should I call? You will not refund the charges
FIRST...it's hot!! Very hot. After 25 years using this company, I'm done. 5 years ago they installed my Trane a/c. Always servicing and repairing. Recently, after them fixing a broken Freon line and putting Freon back in, I noticed my air slowly loosing its cooling. I called and was told that because it's so hot outside my air conditioner can't keep up. Give it a few day. I did and at day 2 I lost all my air. The tech came out and first said I had 10lbs too much Freon. So, he let 10 pounds out. I ran outside and said I had cooler air for 10 seconds then back to warm. 2 hours later he could not diagnose the problem. Later that night a second tech came out and said I needed a new compressor. It could take 3 days to 3 weeks to come in. While I wait there was no assistance from them to help me survive that period of time. I had no choice but to call other companies. ALL told me because the Freon had been over filled, there was too much pressure on the seals which in turn caused the compressor to go. I had no choice but to have a whole new a/c installed. I have bad asthma and a sick dog that would of not survived another week. I called and emailed Ellsworth and I was told,"we are looking into it." Of course no response to date. 7 days later they did call to tell me the compressor was in and to schedule the repair. I was given the advice to file a complaint with the BBB. I did and their response was denial. I responded to that denial statement. Complaint: 20410584 I am rejecting this response because: when Ellsworth heating and cooling came back to my home on the 12th, it was Their technician that told me and my husband that the refrigerant was overfilled by 10lbs. He explained that by letting some refrigerant out that this might fix the problem. And it actually did. All for a minute. I came out of my home and told the tech that I had cool air for a minute then back to warm. The tech then continued to try and diagnose the problem. Only after another hour going by I was then told that he did not know what the problem was and someone else would have to come out. I'd like to also add that I called 3 days prior to report a problem with my air. I was given this response,"mam, have you been outside? We are having a heatwave and your air conditioning can't keep up. Call back in a few days if it doesn't resolve." so, I tried to wait 48 hours. I made it to 24 hours, when I could no longer breathe well (asthmatic) and asked if they could please come and check my A/C. The next day they did. It's only after I was told it was the compressor (keeping in mind that was checked weeks before and their tech did a full diagnostic test before the repair. The soldering of the Freon line and filling with refrigerant) It was only after I was told the compressor would not come in for replacement for 3 days to 3 weeks that I called another A/C company. Ellsworth had no window unit to lend me during this time and I needed help. I had 2 different companies come out Both told me that over filling the Freon( the Ellsworth tech said it was overfilled by 10lbs) would cause pressure on the seals and cause the compressor to break. I called Ellsworth heating and cooling with this information I was told that they would look into it and get back to me. I did not hear back and I knew they would not want to take responsibility. Therefore I needed to tell my story with the intention of sparing another customer the same experience I went through. It's unfortunate that the fist 20 years of service was excellent. I don't know why the past 4 years seem to get worse and worse I am not the only one who has said the same thing. I was given advice to hold the company liable. Impossible. It's their word against mine. Ellsworth Heating and Cooling is absolutely responsible for causing the breakdown of my 5 year old Trane air conditioner and forcing me to having to finance a whole new unit.
Two months ago, water started to come out of a light fixture from the overflow pan on my air handler. I had been dealing with ellsworth exclusively for over 20 years. A tech came out and "fixed it" Draining both the drain and the "overflow" He noticed the age of our compressor said it might be time for a new one, although it keeps my house cold as is, I know it is old and better to replace before it breaks. so a sales man comes out and writes u a quote, very professional. A few weeks later I get a follow up cared nicely worded from the company saying no hurry we know its a lot of money, we are here to help. Two days ago, water is again dripping through the same light fixture. This time over a square foot of drywall saturated.I call and get sent to voice mail by the operator. I record my problem. I call back tow hours later and Jack answers the phone and tells me he has not checked his voice mail. I describe the problem. He tells me this is a new problem not the one the fixed? The insulation is falling of the air handler and condensation is collecting and overflowing the drain. He tells me not his problem and they will offer no remedy, other than get a new ac. He calls his boss and agrees to come out. goes up looks at it says this is anew problem not what they came for first time. they won't do anything the damaged drywall is not their problem. He tells me the way to fix is just get a new ac. Looking at their other reviews you can pretty much tell when MR. Ellsworth retired and handed business over to his son in law. from there out the reviews and serviced has gone down hill. In all fairness their quote wads reasonable, but who can afford to gamble with the quality of work and lack of taking responsibility. This man (Jack) insulted me, l ied and showed zero empathy for their work. But I understand construction is up so they don't need to give good service, with the flood damage insurance money, they are all about take the money and run. Ruining Mr. Ellsworths reputation.
We called Ellsworth for our AC unit, not being able to keep up during the hottest part of the day and subsequently the house would get really warm. We called Ellsworth and they gave us a service time between 1-5 pm. Here is where this company, which we have used in past for service calls, has somehow gone dramatically downhill. Stanley, the service tech shows up close to 6:00pm, First off, they need to have some type of professional attire, his shirt is hanging out and not very clean. Anyway, this "technician" went to look at our AC unit. His first diagnosis is that our refrigerant is low. 10 minutes later its the breaker is the problem, then low and behold the final problem is not any of those but we need a new thermostat, are you f***ing kidding me. Then he says go buy one, you dont want to buy one from us its $149, go to store its easy to install. So we go to store buy one and replace it. Again the house does not warm up. went out to look at unit and the bozo didnt bother putting the bolts back into the AC unit. Called their after hours line and a guy shows at 10:00 p.m. and goes to unit and says there is a wire that was cut is why unit not working!! He said we needed bigger unit for house, hello, we bought the unit from Ellsworth originally. He at least knew what he was doing. Never again, avoid this once decent company, it is now infected with some terrible technicians. Too many other good AC companies in SWFL. Yes they still charge $89 for a service, bs call.
Beware. This North Fort Myers operation are scammers! They came to service my rental mobile homes AC Unit. First visit Jose ran tests and determined a copper supply tube leak. He fixed the leak and filled it with freon the unit was cooling. Then within the same night it was blowing warm air again. Cost so far $1250. Visit next day. Jose came back and said leaking in the same spot. He put a new copper union in place and filled with more freon. This was Ellsworths mistake, but they charged my card without authorization for another $250. Then within hours blowing warm air again. Next visit "senior tech" shows up. We look at the same area that looks like a burnt marshmallow and there is a huge crack in the copper. We could hear and fill the leak. He patches it and cool air starts blowing. Within hours it starts to blow warm air again. Senior tech comes back the next day and now determines the compressor is bad. He can't fix it! Why didn't they determine this on day one when they did the Dianostic check??? So I'm down without air for multiple days and out $1500 as nothing was fixed! I did have several conversations with Jake the Manager. Worthless. Comments like you didn't buy the unit from us. Or we can sell you a new unit for $8500.
I have a unit LESS than two years old. Parts are covered for 10 years...labor one year. I recently had to go to my Florida home for other business. When I walked into my home I discovered that my air was not working properly. Called for service and within the hour a tech showed up. He wasn't able to fix it but service call and freon was $332.00. Next day a different tech showed up...said it was going to cost $750.00 to repair and had to order the parts...2 days later and two nights stay in a hotel...it was repaired, but cost $850.00 all labor. Called and spoke with Jack. He said I was getting a deal! In what universe is THAT a deal? Today I called Trane (brand I went with, because you know, NOTHING RUNS LIKE A TRANE). They said pricing for labor is at the discretion of the dealer. All I can say is that I was EXTORTED out of over $1100.00. There are so many other dealers/repairmen out there...safe to say, I will be looking elsewhere if I need another.
Our AC is working fine, however we needed to replace some ductwork under our mobile home. My husband & I walked in the N. Ft. Myers office with an estimate from another HVAC contractor and spoke to the service manager, Jack McKinley. Although he was decent enough to take the time out to discuss the work, he took us by surprise when we discovered the appointment he scheduled for us wasn't for the estimate as we hoped, but for the work to be started! After questioning him as to why we couldn't get an estimate, he proceeded to tell my husband & I, he couldn't give us the cost of the ductwork until the work crew started the work! Totally absurd!! Incidentally, our air/ htg system was serviced by their company before by the previous owners. Strongly urge consumers to be WISE, do as much research as you can on the work needed, before hiring any contractor.
I just moved into a new home(to me) and decided that I should have the Air Conditioning checked out so I called and scheduled an appointment for today between 1-5pm. At 4:30 I called to see if they were still coming today and I was told yes. He was in Punta Gorda and I should see him in a little bit. I was even told it could be after 5pm. At 6:15Pm after not hearing from anyone at the company I called and left a message that I did not want someone coming to my home later than this. If I have an appointment between 1-5 pm if he can't make the timeframe he should give me a quick courtesy call . About 5 minutes after I called in Jim (I think his name was) called and asked if I was still expecting him today. At this point I told him Ellsworth had lost a potential new customer. Very unprofessional and poor customer service.
we had issue with thermostat and the air conditioning, tech. Came out, told us there was an issue with thermostat wire, repaired, 2023, we are snowbirds, received lcec bill for Sept. 2024 $870.00 the thermostat wire was calling for heat and air conditioning at the same time, will receive another high bill for Oct. 2024, they finally replaced the wire 11.2024, should have replaced in 2023, now we have $ 1,600 in unnecessary power bills bills
Let me start by saying I have been a loyal customer of Ellsworth since 2008, buying service contracts and purchasing a new ac unit. Also, I have always been satisfied with their service and response time. Our ac froze up on 4/17/21. A technician came out on 4/19/21, and never came in my home or went under the mobile home, and diagnosed that we needed a evaperator coil. Replacement work was scheduled for 4/26/21, after having to call you several times. I was assured by the technician, Jim, that I would have ac with his temporary fix of adding freon $231. I had no ac and even after the coil was replaced $637, the unit froze up. I went under my home and found the return air ducts collapsed. Even though I possibly needed a coil, the major problem was the collapsed ducts. I fixed them myself, after going without ac for four more days. I feel that Ellsworth's technician erred in his diagnosis, as fixing the collapsed ducts solved the problem. My repair was meant to be a temporary fix and I made another appointment to replace the return air ducts. When the technician came on 5/6/21, he said he couldn't do any better, and charged me another $119. To actually replace the ducts would have been $800. When I called Ellsworth's service manager to inquire about some monetary relief, he was antagonistic and said the original technician's job was not to go under the house. Ellworth's service manager offered no relief. How can you diagnose a problem without checking all possibilities? I will no longer recommend Ellsworth, as I have done many times in the past. Earl K.
UPDATE: I also posted on their Facebook page and almost immediately the President of the company called to discuss, took accountability and fixed. He hasn't seen his Yelp reviews but based on the quick response to my Facebook post, I'm guessing he checks Yelp out and resolves others issues too. I'm upgrading from a 1 to 3. His responsiveness and solution was a 5 but because of the initial issue, I'm only upgrading to a 3 We used to love this company and have been a customer for over ten years! Our house has two separate units and when we needed to replace one of them, I obviously called Ellsworth. No one ever returned the voicemail message I left for the sales person! THEN our existing unit under warranty needed the coil replaced and it was $825 to do the warranty work on a job that took under two hours. RUN AWAy fast, I'll definitely be using a new company for all our ac needs going forward!
Our A/C went out at 9 PM I called Ellsworth immediately as I had a contract for 24/7 service. At 10 pm I called again and was told someone would call in the next 90 minutes. I finally went to sleep at 2 AM with no A/C. I called at 8 AM the next day{sunday} and a Tech responded and fixed the problem. The Tech was very nice but told me he had only been with the co. 2 years and he had been on call saturday night but had been working 14 hours a day.. appologised for not calling back to let me know they would not respond Sat.night I was informed that Jack and Bill Barnes both had passed away and they had new owners. Not having enough Techs available indicates that service is going downhill and will not be up to previous standards.Better look for a new company.I had been with Ellsworth for 16 years. All good things come to an end !

Thankfully we have Ellsworth Heating and Cooling maintenance agreement. Because over a weekend, our air conditioner stop working when I put in the call. I did not get charged any extra for them to come out on a Saturday. The technician told me another tech would have to come out and inspect my unit because we had no more freon in our A/C unit. He didn't want to add more at the high cost of freon, so we dealt with the warm days and thank goodness the evenings were cool. When Kevin came out, upon his inspection he found a large hole in our condenser. It had leaked all out all the freon. After doing his do diligence Kevin also found that my a/c company was still under warranty. So he got out part but it did take a few days, not on behalf of part of Ellsworth, but on the air conditioner company having to ship a heavy part. But as soon as it arrived, I got a phone call that afternoon and Ellsworth was here the next morning. Thank, you Kevin for finding all the problems because my compressor had gone as well. You truly did you do due, diligence! Thank you for taking good care of my unit! It's up and running great. Thank you for doing it quickly and getting it done perfectly. Thank you, Kevin and Ellsworth, Heating and Cooling Co. I highly recommend this company.I wouldn't go with anyone else!
