We had a very good experience with Mr. Roofing. From the beginning Josh was thorough in helping us to pick the best roof option for our house. They were patient while we waited for financing. As soon as we were ready to go so were they! Marvin was fantastic, super friendly and knowledgeable about what they were doing. He checked in with us many times before, during and after. The communication from the entire company was great. We always knew what was happening and when. They also showed up when they said they would! Carlos and his entire team were considerate of our yard and worked so fast up on the roof. Thanks so much, we would highly recommend you anytime!
Great experience from the initial consult all the way through the installation. Everything was properly explained during pre-install consultation, all questions clearly answered, challenges addressed. The installation went smooth and quite fast. Didn't even have to be present aside from letting the team into the building. The skylight works great, gave us extra sound insullation and replaced and old, foggy skylight with a beautiful clear one that lets a ton more daylight into the room. Very happy with the experience and the final result. Thank you!
I had both my roof and two skylights replaced by Mr. Roofing, and the whole experience was fantastic. Scott, my salesperson, and Marvin, my project manager, were both exceptional. From the first consultation to the final walkthrough, they checked in every step of the way and made sure everything went smoothly. The communication, quality of work, and attention to detail were all top-notch. Couldn’t be happier with the result - highly recommend this team!
Called them out to fix an issue another roofing company created. They addressed the issue, and properly sealed the problematic area. All of my concerns were timely and properly addressed. Would hire them again if needed. When they say 100% satisfaction guaranteed, they mean it.
We had a tricky problem to solve, installing rain scuppers on an older building, and the staff of Mr. Roofing, including Roberto and Maria, were both helpful and creative in solving the problem. We are very pleased with the results.
The whole crew, from office staff to installers, was just great. They stayed in communication, showed up every day on time, worked hard, and left my house looking better than ever. Highly recommend.
The same guys were about communication all the way through our gutter replacement job. Everyone was clear and truthful, the work was first rate. Call them before you call anyone else.
This review is long overdue. Mr. Roofing came to do our roof in late June 2021 and they were fantastic! Thank you Mr. Roofing! We live in a small apt building in SF and one of the top floor neighbors noticed some wet spots on her ceiling so we suspected some leaking issues on the roof. We're not sure when our roof was installed but it had been well over 12 years at least. We solicited quotes from over 5 roofing companies. The first one actually charged us $600 to come do an inspection and give us a quote, and worse, that $ would not be applied toward the overall cost of the new roof or repair if we hired them. We ended up choosing Mr. Roofing for several reasons: 1) Their representative, Joe Williamson, was very response, knowledgeable, and extremely patient with all of our questions back and forth from the various neighbors. A couple of the other outfits were very nice too and initially responded well, but after asking more than 2 questions, it would be tough to get them to respond. But not Joe, he would call me right back or email me back, usually within a couple of hours. I remember one time we had a question that was asked after hours on a Friday and we didn't expect for him to answer us until the following Monday, but he actually got back to me that night answering as much as he could and explaining that he would need to get back to me for the rest on Monday after confirming some info. We never ever felt ignored by Joe. 2) Options! 4 out of the 5 quotes adamantly told us we needed a full roof replacement, even though some of them admitted that our roof was in great shape given it's age. It was like pulling teeth to get them to offer a repair option. Full roof replacements are crazy money (50-60K!) Joe gave us 3 options. And he was very honest that while he did recommend a full roof replacement given the age of our roof and the warranty included in a full replacement, he also stated that he felt comfortable recommending option 2, which was to do some minor repairs to where they identified the leaks, and then doing a coat of Enduris, a waterproof coating, which offered a warranty of 10-15 years. Joe stated that while our roof was old, it was still in great condition. As such, he feels that there's a middle option that might serve our needs best. He even offered us a 3rd simple repair option for waaaaay less money, but did stress that it would not include a warranty. 3) Information. None of us in the building know much about roofs so we had never heard of Enduris, and only knew a little after googling. Joe was able to give us a lot of information about what silicone/rubber materials were used over the years and what was popular and how things are improving. One of our quotes from another outfit suggested a coat of aluminum paint. Joe explained how that's not a popular choice anymore given what's on the market, that it was outdated. He was even able to educate us on what was best for our type of roof in our type of SF weather. To double check, we also discussed these options with another roofer and a friend of a friend who had done roofing work before and they confirmed that same things. No matter what question we had for Joe, he was happy to answer and if he didn't know, he got back to us after checking with more experienced people in the company. They were also fairly priced. Frankly, any construction type cost in SF is going to be pricey. So saying they're fairly priced means for SF, not universally fairly priced. But they actually landed in the middle of the 5 quotes we got. After everything, we just felt really confident with Joe and with the company. Once we signed the contract and agreed to the work, the next person who took over the project was just as responsive as Joe. They stated a date range of when the work would likely take place and they emailed a couple of weeks before the start date. When the start date had to be pushed back by a couple of days, we were notified days in advance. The project manager told us exactly what to expect, how many people were coming, how long they would take, and what they needed from us (access to a water tap). Then the morning of the start date, the project manager called me when they were on their way, they arrived on time, they were in masks, and they quickly got to work. They made sure to haul away an materials and cleaned up our yard and side of any debris. Honestly, you couldn't even tell they were here. All and all, the work took 2 days. And then when they finished, they told me they were done and told me what the follow up would be, what future service would be included (maintenance and cleaning) and how to reach them to do that. They even took pictures of the roof to show me as our roof is hard to access. We could not be happier with our experience. We highly recommend using Mr. Roofing for any roofing needs!
The atmospheric river storm of last winter wreaked havoc on roofs all over the Bay Area, and if yours was one of them, you may remember how difficult it was to find a roofer to do repair or even just for an estimate. My garage was leaking pretty bad, but my list of local roofing companies diminished equally dismally, whether by exorbitant estimates, by "we're not taking any new clients for 6 months," by ridiculously brief, sketchy, muddled "contracts," or by no response to any of my numerous enquiries. Finally (and fortunately!), taking the suggestion of an acquaintance of mine who told me about what a great job Mr. Roofing had done on her roof, I contacted their office in SSF. Within the week, Mitchel came out to assess the situation and discuss what my best options would be. I was impressed not only by his knowledge and experience in the trade but also by his no-pressure style and kind demeanor. It didn't take me long to figure out the scope of the project I wanted done, and within that week (as promised) Mitchel emailed me the written proposal + contract--very detailed and very clear; and in response to the few "what if" questions I did have, Mitchel took the time to answer promptly and clearly. And because the soonest they could book the dates for the labor was about 8 weeks (short, considering how booked all good roofers were) down the line, they tarped the specific spot under the front tile where the worst of the leak was entering for a temporary stopgap (at no extra charge) just in case we were to get any rain in the interim. They were actually able to start a week before their original estimate, always checking with me to confirm whether their schedule was still convenient. All of this well-informed attention and prompt response convinced me, even before the work was started, that Mr. Roofing was the top candidate for the job. Fast forward to the week or so of the actual job: Everything turned out great--I can't imagine a more skilled, prompt, communicative, friendly, thorough crew! The workers always kept in touch with me about what the plans for each workday would be and about what had been done by the end of the day; they supplied me with plenty of photos so that I could see the progress myself; the few changes we made along the way were always completely understood and cleared by me; the workers were ultra-careful and meticulous about their work and their cleaning up at the end of the day; they went beyond the call of duty with touch-up finishing details; the front desk was always helpful with scheduling and critical details like scaffolding dates and final permit sign-off--not to mention the quality of the materials (with a significant guarantee) and the work put into the roof surfacing itself. Oh, and the icing on the cake is that Mr. Roofing also specializes in solar roofing panels and installation, should my current system ever need an upgrade. Kudos to the Mr. Roofing team who were so great about "making everything right" with the whole job--I recommend Mr. Roofing without hesitation and am confident that they will be a great choice for you, too, should you ever need roof repairs or replacement. This rating is for the sales portion of Mr. Roofing. I'll follow up with a final review once the roof installation is complete. We interviewed 16 roofing companies before finding Mr. Roofing. The other 15 we interviewed failed our due diligence (unlicensed, uninsured, way over priced, lacked warranty, etc). We thought we would never find a reputable and trustworthy roofing company. Our roof suffered the historic storms in Q1 2023 and leaked a total of 3 times. We needed a new roof urgently. Enter Mr. Roofing and Mike O. Mike was superb and extremely professional. Informative, knowledgeable, patient, and personable. Given our experience with the other 15 roofing companies we peppered Mike with an arsenal of questions and he answered every single question without hesitation or frustration. Mike helped us select roofing, skylights, and walked us through solar options. Even after signing the contract he's made himself available for additional questions and to submit a change order on our skylight. Mike even understood insurance (that big scary word other companies pucker face and run when mentioned) and offered (yes, offered without being asked!) to prepare 2 separate quotes so we could compare and contrast with insurance. Mike has worked diligently to help us find a custom architectural skylight for our kitchen. Even knowing that we may need to wait on install until we hire an architect for a kitchen remodel where the skylight would go, Mike has pushed ahead in providing us a quote in case we're ready to pull the trigger before the roof installation. Mr. Roofing understands the investment we would have to shoulder if we replace our older solar system given the system operates well for its age, despite under producing what we need. The Mr. Roofing solar team has been patient and diligent with answering our questions so we have information to make an informed decision on whether the ROI is there for solar upgrade. Lastly, Mr. Roofing offers the best warranty we found - other competitors didn't even come close. We suffered from a recent roof leak while we wait for our install date to come and Mr. Roofing sent out a team to perform a courtesy patch. We look forward to the installation and will update this review afterwards.
We moved into our "move in ready" home in August of 2021, only for two months later to be hit with the October '21 storm where our ceiling burst. It turned out we had a crack on our roof drain that wasn't noticed during inspection, and during normal rain might have been minor leakage but with 24+ hours of heavy rain turned into significant water damage and 8 months of repairs. Needless to say, we needed a new roof. The roof had originally been installed by McCurdy- when we reached out to them they claimed that the previous owner had neglected to maintain the roof, so it was no longer under warranty. We were unimpressed by their customer service and got estimates and analysis from 3 other roofing companies as well. Mr. Roofing was by far the most expensive, primarily due to the materials they recommended (which like everything in the last year, had supply chain issues). But we chose them because 1) strong communication. Mitch was our representative and offered multiple options and contracts, was responsive with email, and we could always get ahold of someone in a timely manner 2) quality of the materials and work. We were impressed with the photos they showed from other projects and researched the materials they suggested which did seem to be the best option for our type of roof. When it was time for the actual project, Juan and his team did a fantastic job. They were on time, communicated before, during, and after the installation, and took photos throughout the work. They cleaned up each day and made sure we were satisfied with each step of the process. It's 1 year later and so far no more leaking roof. With California projected to receive more torrential rainstorms in the years to come, I'm hoping the decision to go with Mr Roofing will continue to be successful!
We have all heard about contractors who don't show up, show up late, provide change orders, overshoot budgets, etc... Mr. Roofing is an example of an exemplary company run by one of the most ethical professionals I have ever met. We had solar installed by another company. Mr. Roofing provided a quote which was significantly higher than the company with whom we went (they filed bankruptcy and we were left with a mess). In order for the installation to initially take place properly, Mr. Roofing had to put down a membrane to protect the flat roof that the panels were to sit upon. The other company pierced the membrane and didn't seal it properly. First rains came and our family room became Niagara Falls. The insulation, sheetrock and some of the beams had to be removed for fear of mold. The company stalled us, made excuses and they stopped returning our calls. Next thing we know, they filed for bankruptcy. Mr. Roofing came in, fixed everything and gave us $1000 off because they didn't want THEIR industry to get a bad name. Who does that?!? Mr. Roofing does. They did impeccable work, on time, within budget and they left our place immaculate. This is the only roofing company I would ever consider for future work. Look no further. Owner Carlos Rodriguez is a super smart and ethical man whose word is his bond. I can't say enough about how great this company is. And they are Warriors fans!!!
We recently moved into our home and knew in advance that we needed a new roof in the very near future. We checked around and got quotes from several companies but as I was walking through the neighborhood, I noticed our neighbor had a sign for "Mr. Roofing" in front of his house. So, as I was taking a picture of the sign, my neighbor came out and I explained why I was taking a picture. Then, we had a nice chat about the company and his opinion of the work. He was very pleased and recommended them. So, I gave them a call. We set up an appointment with Mitchel and he was very friendly, detailed & informative about the process. We discussed everything from roofing options, gutters, painting, warranty, etc. My husband and I discussed it and decided that this was the company we wanted to go with. We set up a date and they stayed in contact with us before, during and after the process. We did have some rot on the plywood and they replaced the wood although be aware that lumber prices fluctuate like crazy right now. From start to finish, the job took about a week. The guys were on time, courteous, cleaned up EVERY day, after they were done, and provided their own port-a-potty. We are very happy with the work that was done and the quality of the work. All of the employees were friendly and professional. I highly recommend Mr. Roofing.
Excellent job. The workers were very respectful, kind, hardworking, on time and they cleaned up each night too. Shout outs to Juan, Eduardo, Daniel and of course Carlos the owner. He hires the nicest people. A big shout out to the whole team too. There was a problem with the contract where they were only supposed to do part of the tile roof yet I thought the whole thing was to be done so when the work crew came to my house I told them they were doing the entire tile roof which is what I had wanted in the first place and thought thats what I signed up for. They had almost completed everything when it was noticed that the contract was only for a small part. They still completed the roof even though it wasn't in the contract. I'm not the type of person to not pay for a service rendered and I did want the entire roof done. The extra money it would cost was not in the budget and I'm a senior living on a fixed income. I had received 3 quotes for the roof back in November and ended up paying in the range of the other two companies but it was still a deep discount. Carlos worked with me and we worked out an arrangement so this works out well for me. Thank you Carlos for being so understanding and thank you to the crew for all the hard work. I recommend you hire this company if you want it done right.
I am very glad I chose Mr. Roofing to replace our roof and gutters. Great experience from start to finish. Mike, the Project Adviser, pitched the job to me. He used a drone to take photos so that he could show me my entire roof, and then explained my options in terms of the materials to be used. I was impressed with a video he showed me about the company's commitment to quality, and I was very pleased when Mr. Roofing's bid was significantly cheaper than two other roofing contractors who submitted bids. When the job started, the crew exceeded all my expectations. They showed up on time each morning, worked efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. The two project managers I dealt with, Roberto and Osvaldo, kept me updated on how the job was going, and made it clear I could contact them any time I had a question or concern. Everyone on the crew gave me a smile or a friendly nod if our paths happened to cross, which maybe doesn't seem like a big deal but it sure created a nice atmosphere. In particular I want to acknowledge Osvaldo, Victor and Jose. They were very responsive to my ideas about positioning the gutters and drains to feed into my new rainwater barrels, and came up with very creative solutions. It was a pleasure doing business with all of these guys. Eric
From the start, Mitchel from Mr. Roofing starts to put your mind at ease. It's not from telling you what you want to hear, but rather being up front and starting with straight facts. From there, decisions you make are done with confidence. Since Mr. Roofing are roofers first, they were able to tell me specifically about how the solar installation would work with my lightweight concrete tile roof. And even though their quote using a premium solar panel was more expensive than other bids, I simply did not have confidence that the other bids were accurate or that the other suppliers, who contract out the installation, would install the panels correctly and keep the roof leak free. The installation was quick, and Nick kept me informed every step of the way, and he gave me all the options including the pros and cons with each decision. Nothing was rushed, quality work was prioritized yet the work was deliberate and efficient. I am extremely happy with the experience and I have confidence that my solar array is simply going to be forgotten ... in a good way. I bet I'm only going to be reminded when I get the electricity bill every month or perhaps when I occasionally gaze at the roof and notice the beautiful panels. And that's how it should be.
From start to finish I had a very positive experience with Mr. Roofing. The initial consultation was extremely informative and was one of the reasons I decided to select this company. The only improvement, which I take partial responsibility, was arranging the finally site consultation prior to the work being started. Mr. Roofing listen closely to what my expectations were and explain exactly how they were going to accommodate my requests and concerns. Once work began Mr. Roofing stayed in constant contact with me. The status updates I received came directly from the owner, Carlos. It is clear that Carlos takes pride in providing his customers with an excellent product and great service. It is also clear that Carlos passes these goals along to all of his workers as all my interactions with them were nothing but positive. Each day the job site was left clean which was greatly appreciated. The final product looks great and was completed in a timely manner. I would certainly recommend Mr.Roofing to others. I found them to be priced higher than some other companies but the quality of their work and customer service more than made up for the price difference.
Mr Roofing did a professional, high quality job replacing the entire roof for the first time since my San Francisco house was built in 1910. Mitch outlined the job requirements thoroughly and gave a bid that was in line with other contractors, using high quality materials with long term warranties. He was also able to get sidewalk permits (a difficult process during early Covid) that the painting contractor with whom I was coordinating at the time was unable to procure. I sometimes had to wait longer than I wanted for responses when defining the job specifications, but once the job was scheduled it went like clockwork. A hardworking, enthusiastic team managed by Roberto completed the job in less than a week. A neighbor across the street watched the entire process from his porch and commented multiple times how impressed he was. When there was a minor fix needed during the rainy season (adding a piece of metal to the gutter to prevent spillage), Roberto responded quickly to address the problem before the next rain. You can't go wrong hiring Mr. Roofing for your roofing job!
A year and a half ago, we decided to tackle the complex, expensive job of replacing the flat roof on our house. After reading reviews, I scheduled an estimate with Mr. Roofing, along with estimates from three other roofers. I'm thrilled to have worked with the company. The work involved several challenges: tearing off several layers of foam and patches, tapering the roof to promote water drainage, creating an easy way to remove fallen debris from surrounding oak and redwood trees, and re-roofing a tiny, hard-to-access separate roof over a bathroom. The job went smoothly from start to finish. Mike, who came out to do the estimate, took extensive time to walk around the roof with me and assess all of my concerns. His clear communication was evidenced by both the contract and the work performed last week by Carlos and his hardworking crew. Carlos took me through the job step by step before beginning the work, provided daily progress reports and photos of the work, and went through a punch list with me at the job's conclusion. Thanks, Mr. Roofing, for a job well done.
This outstanding, honest, reputable company deserves and receives my very highest recommendation. Mr. Roofing is the way business should always be done! Our family is so pleased and satisfied with the utmost degree of professional expertise and gracious customer service we received from start to finish. Mr. Roofing sets the Diamond Certified standard here in San Francisco for THE *BEST* roofing contractors. We love our beautiful new roof! Cost was extremely reasonable, especially considering the complexities of our 3 skylights ... initially tearing off 3 ancient decrepit leaky roofs on top of our house ... installing our new state-of-the-art, high-performance IB roof system ... and new tasteful shingles on our front peaked roof. Mr. Roofing people are great people to do business with - can't thank Mr. Roofing enough for all their skilled work and courtesy, and for our nearly-nonexistent heating bill now that our beautiful, cozy new roof seals us up nice & tight. Consider this a genuine 100-star review and recommendation.
We had a leaky garage roof and a connected roof to the bathroom which also leaked during large storms. Overall Mr. Roofing did a great job and am satisfied with the quality of their work. - Was very thorough in the pre-project meeting and post project walkthrough to ensure they understood my needs and that my needs were met respectively. - Mr. Roofing shared a URL (link) to the project timeline with many photos so was able to keep informed of the progress of the work. - I put in an extra request during the project to remove a TV antenna on the roof, and they not only did this removal, but also did this without any extra charge! - After the re-roofing was done, I personally tested my roof by spraying a large amount of water on the roof and detected no leaks! - Considering the scope of the project, I felt that the price was fair. The people on the re-roofing team including Marvin, Miguel, Kevin, Juan, and Ricardo did a great job of keeping me informed and taking the extra time to do a thorough job.
I am giving 5 stars even though I don't have the new roof yet. So why so happy? 1) They show up when they say they will. 2) They did a thorough inspection of my roof. That meant the estimate is accurate. Some other places had a series of contingencies that could shift the cost from $2000 to $8000 from the original estimate. It's hard to budget for that kind of difference. 3) Mike explained everything really well without being condescending. It is a relief when dealing with any construction group to be treated like a thinking adult. There was never a sense that they were trying to pressure me or trick me into anything. 4) Even though they cannot fit my roof replacement in their schedule, they had someone come out to seal any places with potential leaks. This will get me through the rains. 5) They respected my decision to hold onto architectural details on my 1876 Victorian. Their job would be easier without them. If it's worth it to me, they are willing to work within those constraints.
We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Mr. Roofing. During the recent heavy rains, our house starting leaking in two places. One of the leaks was coming through a flat roof into the room below, the other was dripping down the interior side of a window. We called Mr. Roofing and they sent Roberto and an assistant out the next morning. Roberto was careful in diagnosing the sources of the leaks, and went above and beyond in walking me (a new homeowner) through what to look for and how to figure out the source of a leak. He and his assistant spent about an hour at our house and sealed up a bunch of spots on the roof as well as the seal around the leaking window. And he assured me that I could call anytime--even in the middle of a storm--if we experienced any more leaking. We've since had another bout of heavy rain and have stayed completely dry. Not only that, but I'm now a (slightly) more savvy homeowner :)
A persistent leak even after the first roofing lead to the hunt for a better company to redo and properly correct the problem. After a few quotes, Omar was the most courteous, honest and knowledgeable about my roof issues. The only drawback was the price but after weighing out the benefits, Mr. Roofing was better suited. Overall the contractors are very friendly. The project manager, Jose, addressed all concerned issues as best he could. The roof looks better than it was or even better. I hope with the recent sunny weather, the seals can have a stronger cure. Thank you for securing the roof at the end of each day to make sure all seams are weatherproof. & Thank you for allowing multiple visits to check on the project's progress and providing a walkthrough of the daily itinerary. The bonus courtesy patch was a definite life saver during the rainy season. I'll definitely refer my friends and family for any future work.
Mr Roofing just completed a roof replacement project on our house and we are very pleased. Everyone involved was helpful and professional - Eloisa, Mike, Carlos and the whole roofing crew. Great communication from start to finish. Very customer-focused. The work was done in a reasonable amount of time with no drama and minimal disruption. And the roof is beautiful. The worksite was kept very clean throughout the project which is no easy feat on a roof replacement. As with any house project there were minor issues that came up - all of them related to the scaffolding company and not the roofers. But Carlos dealt with each issue in a fair and honest manner. It was a joy to work with him. In terms of cost, we got multiple bids and Mr Roofing fell somewhere in the middle. If you're considering any roof work I highly recommend you give these folks a chance to bid on it.
These guys really came through for me, making a stressful situation that much more bearable! Keeping your home maintained and free of future issues is no joke! What started as a simple paint job turned into so much more: fixing window leaks, needing to change out gutters, and possible roofing issues... you're stressed out just reading this, right?? So, after trying to wrangle so many different contractors and companies to take care of each issue, Ricardo from Mr. Roofing was a breath of fresh air. He laid it all out and they sent a detailed bid, and best of all, he & Eloisa made magic happen in a tight timeline. Granted, because they are so good, just getting an appointment for someone to come out for an estimate took several weeks, but that was a small price to pay for a positive experience overall!! Thank you, Mr. Roofing!
Work began on time, finished early, and landed within budget. Contract was thorough and fair. Cleanup was immaculate. The crew was friendly and considerate. I appreciated Mr Roofing's taking the extra step to distribute letters to neighbors giving notice of the work, including the project manager's direct contact information. I also appreciated how well they prepared us for the experience (ex. explaining that the house will move as your 3000 pound old roof comes off, so consider taking valuable things off the walls). A roof replacement is the biggest project (&/or the first big project) a lot of homeowners will undertake -- the extra time Mr Roofing spends to help clients understand what to expect is an invaluable service. These guys are so great that they're booked several months out, so don't wait to get on their calendar.
We live in a 1907 Edwardian home in San Francisco with a flat roof of just under1,600 square feet. We hired Mr. Roofing to remove the entire existing roof and install a completely new roofing membrane from start to finish. They did a fantastic job! The team recommended replacing siding only when necessary and cleaned up after themselves every single day. The level of craftsmanship and quality was top-notch. We also had them install three sun tubes (circular skylights), and they did an excellent job with those as well--making sure the interior sheetrock looked clean and professional. As with any project, the outcome depends on the supervisor and foreman leading the crew. The team we got was fantastic, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for roofing work.
Mr Roofing led one of the happiest home projects I've ever done. From the initial inspection where they sent me detailed photos of the site and comparable pics from other houses they'd worked on, to the thoroughness with which Mitch led me through all the options, to the letter they mailed me explaining all the COVID preparations they were taking to protect both my family and their workers (all of whom are employees, not day laborers), to the amazing customer service throughout, this was an A+ operation. Their bid wasn't the cheapest I received but with a major project like this, there's so much more to consider than price alone. I was delighted with the results, and will wholeheartedly recommend Me Roofing to anyone in the market for roofing in San Francisco.

We contacted Mr. Roofing for roof repair in June, 2020, because the company was listed as Diamond Certified. On July 15, Ricardo, from Mr. Roofing, spent 45 minutes to an hour assessing the repair. We expected a proposal of the project and were told we would receive by the following week. We received a phone call from Mr. Roofing on July 20, 21, that the proposal was forthcoming. We heard nothing more from them and received nothing from them. Professional courtesy would suggest that this company would simply decline to propose, that was not the case. Ghosting potential customers is bad business. It is also bad business for Diamond Certified. I am less likely to consider any company listed as Diamond Certified. Mr. Roofing (Carlos and Ricardo) contacted me to discuss. They did not intend to drop the ball and apologized. I appreciate their immediate effort to understand my disappointment. I told both of them that I had been very impressed with Ricardo's understanding of our project and was ready to proceed. So not hearing from them was very discouraging.
I made an appointment to have my roof estimated for a replacement, the appointment was set for 10am. The day before the appointment I received an email claiming they couldn’t contact me by phone and could I confirm my noon appointment and provide my phone number . I explained the appointment was for 10am and was told that noon was available. I changed my plans to accommodate the new time. Not surprisingly, noon came and went without the estimator.I emailed and was told the estimator rang the bell for 10 minutes and no one answered so he left. If they can’t get an appointment right I would not trust them with a roof.
As my tenants said when they saw the finished job… “Eyesore” This patch was supposed to match the rest of the surface, which they themselves installed. As you can see It’s crooked, irregular, doesn’t match, and they even dripped all over the place!
Beware they are only interested in replacing an entire roof and not focused on repairs. Wasted a day and time from work.
If I had written this prior to 2023, it would be at least a 4-Star review But things, as they say, have changed. The initial installation was fine. Efficiently done, quality work. During the next rain we discovered a small leak near our chimney into our living room. They came and fixed it right away. It's never been a problem since. What IS a problem is the leak we found in our garage & kitchen after the Jan '23 deluge. It was a lot of rain and a lot of wind and we woke up to a big puddle in the house. Not good. We finally got them come out & inspect the problem -no easy feat in itself- and an installation issue was uncovered that Mr Roofing immediately blamed the the manufacturer, GAF, and that's where we sit today, over a year later. GAF blames Mr Roofing, MR Roofing blames GAF and WE mop up the kitchen after every rain and wonder when dry rot is going to start. What Mr Roofing SHOULD do is fix our damn leak and work it out with GAF afterwards but, no. At this point, communications from Mr Roofing are few and far between. I do not believe our leak will ever be fixed. They are nice enough people and they say all the right things but when more than empty words are needed: AVOID MR Roofing.
I used the online form to request a roofing estimate, and got an automated response that they would get back to me within the next business day. Four days later, I still hadn't heard back from them, so I called them up. I got a girl who didn't seem to understand why I was calling, but then eventually she said that the next appointment available was a month from now. I had contacted 3 roofers and a concrete guy on the same day. The other 2 roofers and the concrete guy are willing to come this week for estimates so I really don't want to wait a month and lose more time (money) at work waiting for contractors next month too. I'm glad they're doing so much business that they're too busy to get back to people or take on new clients, but it was not a positive experience for me. If they can't get back to me when they say they will (even if it is online), then I can't feel that they will value my time or me as a customer.
Mr. Roofing did a job for us this Spring. It was an entryway to a four unit building. The job entailed fixing leaks, which involved replacing drain pipes that ran through the structure. Upon completion, we paid Mr. Roofing $5500. Following completion, there were more rainstorms. The entryway still leaked, even though the drain pipes functioned better. We had them come out to inspect. They agreed there was more leakage, but maintained that the job was completed properly. In other words, they wanted to open a new job to fix what they didn't do on the first try. Not only was this an offensive position to take (not standing behind their own work), but then they never followed up with proposals or dates to address the problem. This dovetails with the problems my neighbor Clair C. has had with them to remediate problems with his job.
Well it would be nice IF we could review the services here. But it seems that they don't need business. A few months ago Ricardo came out to give us an estimate on some work we needed done. A week or so later we called and wanted to proceed with some of the work. A FEW WEEKS later we called the company to tell them that we never hear from anyone and wanted to deal with someone else. We were told that Ricardo is the only one. We decided to give this one more chance. Ricardo finally got back to us after the office called him and told him to. He apologized and said he would get right back to us to set up the work. Here we are almost two weeks late and NADA!!! I guess if you want work done you can only talk to Ricardo. But Ricardo doesn't want work. Don't waste your time with this place. SUPER unprofessional- HORRIBLE customer service!
We hired Mr. Roofing based on excellent experience with Mike O, who did the assessment, described project, quote. However, when work began, manager at first insured daily communication and work to be done within certain schedule. Then there were daily changes, work started late, ended late, when we asked about concerns with frame not aligning, or any question really, manager unable to communicate. Gave push back but no answers. Job finished with broken Velux frame left in one skylight, off center/crooked install of one skylight and sloppy finish. One of the solar power blinds is constantly closing. Mike O came back and acknowledged many issues, but they have now become non-responsive. No plan to fix or restitute aspects of this project that did not meet minimum expectations for a price that was overly inflated. Not so happy.
Very poor experience with Mr Roofing. Rude customer services and low quality job. Do not hire them for your project. They do care how much money they can get from you. You can read other one star reviews as well, everybody had same problems. Estimator they sent to me, didn't have enough experience on roofing to explain why I have to renew my roof, when he was talking about type of them, he starts from expensive ones and comes down. They are pretty busy even if you hire them, they will come to complete the job several months after you sign the contract. That is the another reason their price way higher than other roofers. Because they have enough jobs. Do Not Hire This Company if you care about your nerve cells.
Shocked at how rude Luis Palala (business card says he is Project Advisor) was. As soon as I told him we most likely wouldn't replace the roof, just wanted service, he turned. He said his ladder on the truck was not long enough to reach the roof and that he would have his collegue to come instead, which of course never happened. Would a roofing professional not bring the right equipment to potential clients' places to give estimates?? Never heard from him or from Mr. Roofing.....would you want to consider them?
Should have posted this much earlier. We had what appeared to be a water stain in the ceiling during the winter rains in December/January. Mike came out in January to provide an estimate. Although it was extremely high (commission focused it appears) we asked for a written estimate. We have had numerous storms since then and we were still waiting to hear back with the written estimate. I had some minor repairs from Mr. Roof years ago and they were very reasonable and customer focused back then.
Contacted Mr. Roofing in mid-June for an estimate to replace a residential roof. Three business days later I finally received a return call only to be told the earliest date they had available to come out to measure and provide an estimate would be at the end of July -- 6 weeks away! I asked when they'd be able to reroof and they said currently looking at October or November timeframe when they'd be available. If they are that busy, they certainly don't need my business!!!
Seriously flaky. I made an appointment with them, they came out to inspect everything and received all of the info they needed for an estimate. I was going to go with a complete re-roofing, as well as a large SunPower system with dual batteries. I called and texted the employee after over a week of hearing nothing. The week after that, they texted me and promised the estimate for the next day. It's been over a week again. Thanks for wasting my time.
Stay away from this company. They were unprofessional, disrespectful , extremely slow in communication and responding, and never got back to me regarding my project. There are so many great roofers in the SF bay area who are willing to "work". Don't waste your time here.
Having been stuck behind one on the streets, If they roof at the same proficiency that they look at their phone while driving then they are very good roofers
Nice guys low quality no warranty for roof repairs! No more Mr. Roofing for me.
Very disappointed after contacting Mr. Roofing for an estimate based on their outstanding Yelp ratings. Two stars because they contacted me to remind me of my appointment, sent me materials in the mail to prepare for the appointment, and their project advisor was on time and professional on the day of the appointment. That was great. What happened afterwards, not so great. The estimate was on a Monday (the 13th) and the project advisor told me he'd have our estimate done by the end of the week, and that he'd hand deliver it along with sample materials. I rearranged my work schedule to be home on that Friday, but never heard from anyone at the company. I figured they might be busy and chalked it up to that, so I emailed the PA directly on Tuesday (the 21st) asking when I could receive the estimate. Again, no response. After a full 2 weeks went by without any communication, I called their office on the 27th. I was told they'd contact the PA and get back to me, and then didn't hear back. I called back today, the 28th, and was told the same thing. But I figured over two weeks was enough time to get an estimate and told them we'd be going with a different company. I realize Mr. Roofing is quite busy based on the responses here, but if you tell a customer you'll have their estimate done in a few days and then go two weeks without contacting the customer, that's ridiculous. Judging by their backlog they obviously don't need and won't miss our business, but it would have been nice to at least see an estimate or even get a phone call or email to let me know the estimate was delayed. The PA told me they had projects booked through the summer already, so I expected to wait a bit for our roof if we ended up going with Mr. Roofing. I certainly didn't expect to not hear from them at all, though. Disappointing.
I had Ricardo come out for an estimate. He was very courteous and professional when doing the measurement and explaining what work to be done. At the end he feels I'm leaning toward a specific type of roofing which they don't offer, he seems to not want my business. I never said i want anything specific. His job was to get me an estimate of what the roofing job will cost. He then says that maybe I should go with the other material and I explain that you are here to compete for business. It's on Mr. Roofing's website to get a few quotes before deciding on a company. He says in order to get the quote, he'll have to sit down at another time and give me the estimate. I explain that time you can email or give quote over the phone so I can have a range of what to expect and when i do decide to go with Mr. Roofing, we will have the actual details of what is being done. He said he'll email the proposal to me. I called back a week later and ask for the proposal and he said that he gives priority to people that sit down and meet with him. How difficult is it to email a proposal?? I feel that he doesn't want my business since day 1, I told him that I'll just remove Mr. Roofing from my list of estimates. I feel that a sit down session is a waste of time for some and if they insist on that tactic, it'll will be difficult to compete with other companies in this age of technology. I called them because they are Diamond Certified, I'm very disappointed in the way the conduct their business, you should respect what the consumer ask. Btw, no quotes was given. 2 stars for being courteous at the beginning.
I was hesitant to give them a bad review, but after having our much better experience with Excelsior Roofing I thought I should. It took 2 weeks to get an appt. to have someone spend a couple of minutes on my roof and tell me they didn't have an answer. Luis said he would talk to his supervisor and get me a quote in a few days (been a week and half). Once I said that I wasn't looking to re-do the entire roof, his interest seemed to wane. That's when he told me that I really seek out a couple of more quotes. Their operation as a whole seems to have it all together, but there was something missing. On the other hand, I called Excelsior Roofing and they came the next day for an inspection. He had 2 guys come to my house the following day to fix my leak. He was honest and told me that I had another 5 years left on my roof and he could patch it up and repair some flashing at a minimal cost. The number one thing I demand from service companies is honesty, followed by professionalism (i.e. follow up).
Ricardo came out to take a look at a leak on our roof and give us a quote. He was very nice, seemed to know what he was talking about and very personable. Unfortunately we never got a quote. 8 business days after he came out I called Mr. Roofing to ask about the quote. I got a call back from Ricardo at almost 9pm at night saying he had our quote ready and would bring it over in the next 2 days. It never came. I would have hired them if I had gotten the quote and it was a fair price. I will not use them and would not suggest using them. If I can't get a quote in a timely manner I don't see how I could get the job done in a timely manner either.
2.5 stars because the first half of the process was flawless. Called, made an appointment, Mike came on time for the appointment, and our meeting went well. I really liked my interaction with Mike and really looked forward to hearing back from him for the proposal. However, 2 weeks went by and I hadn't heard back so I emailed Mike asking for an update. Waited another week and never got a response so I went with another company.
Called today to schedule an appointment for an ESTIMATE, not to start anything. The first appointment was December 9th!! Almost 2 months from now!!! Crazy. Business must be booming for them.
I called April 11th for an estimate, the soonest they can come out is May 2nd - 3 weeks, really? For that I give them 2 stars....
YUCK! Dont bother. Wanted me to wait 3-4 months for a re-roofing appointment. If they have that much business------pass.
Competent and courteous, but a poor outcome for me. Probably a reasonable choice if you've got a larger project, avoid for repairs. We had a leak on a roof balcony, got a quote from a smaller outfit. Mr Roofing gets a lot of business so they were backed up, but we wanted to wait to get a second quote and opinion from a top-tier roofing company, so we waited, and unfortunately it kept raining so the water damage worsened inside the house. We waited a few more days after they came out to get their quote. They didn't quote me for just a repair, even though I'd asked them to give me a couple options; they only quoted me $11000 to add a coating the whole balcony, but did not offer a warranty because they didn't know where the leak was. I told them there was no way I was spending that much without a warranty; would they just quote me for a repair? They said they'd get me a quote, but never got back to me. I went with a repair from a competitor at under 1/10 the price, but after weeks of delay. In fairness, there had been a previous leak in that roof nearby three years prior, so adding a coat wasn't a ridiculous idea and I had said I'd entertain such a quote as one option. But I wish they'd been upfront about the fact that they weren't really in the repair business.
Called Mr. Roofing for an estimate based on Yelp reviews. They were 1 of 6 companies that I had come out to see if I needed a new roof and provide an estimate. The salesperson was not a roofer, but very friendly. The gentleman was on time and super responsive. I also felt that he was quite thorough for not being a roofer. So why not 5 stars? I did not get any explanation for why I needed a new roof (i.e. pictures of visible signs that the roof needs replacement). The in person quote review was much longer than it needed to be for someone that got multiple quotes and has done alot of online research. The time really should have been spent explaining to me why this quote was almost 2x the price of other highly rated companies in the bay area. The next question for someone reading this review is then why did I waste time getting these estimates. It was because my roof was 25 years old, some granules were accumulating in the gutter, and I wanted to check if I needed a new roof since most highly rated companies are booked months out. This company has many good reviews and maybe my experience was a fluke. I'm sure the company does great work, but I hope that its salespeople could spend time in the right areas so that it could win customers like myself.
Only received an estimate for roof replacement and it was extraordinarily high. Be sure to get multiple estimates! I'm not sure how an estimate can be more than double highly rated competitors and 30% higher than that of the most expensive high-service competitor for a seemingly normal project. Triple layer underlayment? Unfortunately at that price, it felt like they were trying to take advantage of my parents. Thankfully we got many estimates. My parents noted they were nice people with nice cars, fancy ladders, and drones.
What should I say about Mr Roofing? I gave a 3 stars based on the friendliness. I've been working with the representative from the very beginning. It took me about 3 weeks to get project quote. I finally got the quote after several correspondences. When I finally got the email project breakdown quote, I can't open the quote on the link provided. I was quoted range from $6500-$11k depending on the roof conditions I didn't hire the company.
just called to make an appointment. A pleasant lady answered the call and told me the first available appointment will be in 2 months when they will give me an estimate. I guess they are super busy.

Had mom’s house roof replaced with a metal roof. Best decision ever. German and Carlos handled everything; from planning, financing options, materials, educated me on the different types of roofs/materials, permits, etc. The project was done timely, cost effective, and now the home basically has a forever roof. They also replaced the gutters and added gutter guards, making the roof nearly maintenance free. The roofers were professional, punctual, and I was updated with videos and photos throughout the process. This is the third roof I’ve hired them for, as I’ve had other projects, and referred them to friends. No question, I trust their ethics, expertise and commitment to building something that will last for years/decades to come.
